Wedding Photography and Videography Checklist

In this blog post we are going to discuss the all-important checklist for the videography and photography on your wedding day. Whilst a professional videographer or photographer will always know exactly what moments to capture, it may helpful for you to compile a checklist beforehand to ensure you’re happy that every moment of your big day is being filmed or photographed.

Wedding Videographer Tipperary
Preparation Shots:

Some of the most intimate moments we capture for our brides and grooms are in the preparation stage. In the early morning or in the hours before the ceremony, the team here at Drangan video take time to capture those special moments that no one else gets to see. We would wholly recommend that you ask your photographer to be present at this time also.

• Bride, Maid of Honour and bridesmaids getting ready
• Family moments such as the family seeing the bride for the first time in all her finery.
• The wedding cars arriving.
• Filming well wishes with your neighbours and friends in the area.
• Groom, Best Man and groomsmen getting ready.
• Family shots in the home with both families.
• Pinning of the boutonnière between father/best man and son.

The Ceremony:

The ceremony is indeed the most important aspect of your big day and it’s great if your videographer and photographer can work in harmony to capture every moment.

• Guests arriving at the ceremony venue.
• Shots of the exterior and interior of the venue.
• Detailed shots of wedding booklets.
• Family members arriving and being seated by your ushers or grooms party.
• Father and bride making their way into the ceremony and down the aisle.
• Every moment of the ceremony.
• First kiss.
• Processional or exit from the ceremony venue.

The Reception:

Now that it’s time to celebrate, you can kick back and relax, dance, eat, drink and be merry while your photographer and wedding videographer capture every moment of the party.

• Interior and exterior shots of the reception venue.
• Guests signing guest book.
• The all important speeches.
• Cutting the cake.
• Your very first dance as a married couple.

It’s always a nice idea to capture the little things that make up the décor of your big day, so don’t feel shy to ask your photographer or videographer to take shots of the centrepieces, table plan, floral arrangements and wedding favours.

Spring Wedding Ideas

For those of you looking for some last minute wedding inspiration for your spring wedding, look no further! In this blog post we are going to look at some of this spring’s décor and colour trends and guide you through the options that will add a little something to the celebration of your big day.

Spring Wedding Cocktails
Serve a Spring Cocktail

Serve something colourful, light and refreshing to your guests when they arrive to celebrate your spring wedding. Gin cocktails are incredibly popular at the moment and can be offered with a range of botanical garnishes to make every single cocktail unique. Allow your guests to mix and match garnishes and mixers for a welcoming experience like no other!

Spring Salads

Nothing says spring quite like a fresh, bright seasonal salad. Offer your guests a ‘make your own’ salad bar or serve up a selection of salads directly to the table. Add seasonal fruits and vinaigrettes to make the meal even more special.

Something Cosy

Whilst the days are starting to get that bit longer again, the nights can get incredibly cold in early spring (especially in Ireland). If your wedding venue offers an outdoor area for those who smoke or simply prefer to sit outside, consider offering your guests some cosy blankets to keep warm. You can also ask the venue manager if they can provide outdoor heating lamps to ensure your guests are comfortable at all times.

Spring Flowers

Adding a selection of fresh spring flowers to your table centrepieces can really allow nature to play a big part in your day. Choose from daffodils, snowdrops, crocuses or primroses and add a splash of wonderful colour to your venue. For those of you who wish to include spring flowers in your bouquets and buttonholes, daffodils make a splendid display and are a fraction of the cost of roses or other out of season flowers.

Bright Colours

Bright pinks, purples, yellows and blues all tell us that Spring us upon us. Working these colours in with your venue décor, wedding attire and floral arrangements can really set the stage for your big day. Bright colours bring with them a sense of cheer and optimism, sunshine and happiness – what more could you ask for on your big day?

Sunglasses for your Bridal and Grooms Party

You may think we’re being a bit optimistic here, considering the typical Irish weather scenario, but the spring sunshine can be incredibly strong, particularly when it’s low in the sky near the end of the day. Providing your wedding party with some funky shades will let them know you’ve been thinking of them and will make for some great wedding photographs!

Delighful Happy Winter Wedding In Tempetuohy Tipperary

Deirdre Kennedy and Paul McGrath have finally tied the knot, they are now  officially Mr. & Mrs. McGrath , I am proud to be sharing their wedding highlights in this blog post.

Paul didn’t have to travel far to find the love of his life they are both from Loughmore  their  houses are only a few minutes apart.
Loughmore is a village in County Tipperary,   It is part of the parish of Loughmore -Castleiney.

Video coverage of the day commenced  with morning preparations in both houses, on arrival at Paul’s house I received a warm Tipperary greeting  and a cuppa, Paul is a well organized guy who likes do  things right, his wedding day was no exception.
When I arrived at Deirdre’s house the bridal preps were in full swing it was great to have captured the fun and excitement of the build up to what turned out to be an amazing  wedding day.

Tipperary Bride and Groom

The Sacred Heart Church Templetuohy was the setting for for the wedding ceremony, for video coverage it was a simple two camera set up I like to adapt a discreet profile especially during the ceremony.
Fr. Pat Murphy was the wedding celebrant he a really nice easygoing  guy, music and vocals were performed by fabulous Claire Heffernan  one the best wedding singers in Tipperary.

We stopped off at  Templemore Town park for a photo shoot it was a great opportunity to capture interesting winter video  footage.
The park is a hidden treasure for the  town of Templemore  it  has  a beautiful lake an impressive fountain a  lovely spot for a pleasant walk.  It was also nice time out  for  Paul & Deirdre a chance to reflect on becoming Mr. & Mrs.

Templemore Town Park

The Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny provided the  perfect backdrop for Paul & Deirdre’s   big  day. I am informed that the first wedding reception in the Newpark Hotel took place  in 1966 they have been the most popular wedding venue choice in Kilkenny for more than 50 years.

Paul secretly organized a fireworks display as a surprise for Deirdre, it was spectacular display a thrilling end to their Highlights Video Clip.

More Tipperary and Kilkenny wedding news next week.

Wedding Trends for 2019

It’s January again, that time of the year where we take a look at the trends that look set to take the wedding world by storm for the next 12 months. In this blog post we’re going to take a look at the trends for 2019, whilst also giving a nod to those old trends that looks set to continue long into the future. We’d love to hear any insights you may have, so do please feel free to comment below or get in touch with Drangan Video  via social media.

Colour Trends in 2019

2019 see the continuation of the trend for pastel colours; however, we are now looking at darker more dramatic shades. Set your sights on darks purples, pinks and blues and you can be sure that you’ll be right on trend. Silvers, golds, bronzes and metallic tones are also looking likely to top the style trends for guests and bridal parties alike!

Making the Change

We’re not quite sure if we should thank Megan Markle for this or not, but the stunning bride has set the tone for things to come with a change of dress after the wedding ceremony. Realising that cost plays a huge part in this new trend, we’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled for bridal bargains on the run up to your big day. Opt for an outfit or dress that allows you to relax and enjoy some dancing later in the evening without having to worry about or be restricted by a heavy gown.

Personalised Wedding Stationary

Never before has wedding stationary been so important! The trend now seems to be pointing more than ever to personalised wedding invites with monograms designed specifically for you both, professional calligraphy and laser cut designs. Most small towns, villages and cities in Ireland will have a number of craft professionals that will be delighted to design something bespoke for your and your intended. Plus you’re supporting a local small business, what could be better than that?

The More Intimate Experience

Whilst it appears the recession in Ireland is well and truly over (for now), Brides and Grooms have learned from the past decade of austerity and have taken stock of what is most important for their wedding day. Gone are the days of large extravagant weddings with three or four hundred guests, we now look more to the people who are most important in our lives and put them centre stage. Large weddings are great fun, but when the costs run too high it can be hard to justify any resulting debt!

Catering with a Difference

Looking for something different for your wedding? Why not look to the mobile catering trend that continues to grow throughout Ireland? More and more we are seeing Brides and Grooms employ the services of outside catering companies, burger vans, burrito bars, ice-cream vendors and mixologists! If you fancy a change from the traditional sit down dinner, have a look at some of your local mobile catering service providers for some incredible inspiration.

If you are planning a wedding in 2019 or 2020 and looking to hire the services of a professional wedding videographer, the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you. We are happy to travel anywhere in Ireland and will always work closely with you to provide you a service that will last you a lifetime.
