In this blog post we are featuring the wedding of Deirdre and Andrew who tied the knot in the Church of the Holy Trinity Hugginstown Kilkenny a big thank you to them for choosing Drangan Video for videography and allowing their wedding video to be shared on line.
Here at Drangan Video we offer a wide range of videography packages one to suit every budget, Deirdre and Andrew availed of our Silver wedding video package which provides coverage of morning bridal preps up to and including the drinks reception at the wedding venue.
I really enjoyed shooting this wedding the bridal preps were the highlight of the video shoot a wonderful cast featuring Deirdre in the lead roll as the happy bubbly bride and her two little support stars Ellie-May and Saoirse running around and keeping an eye out for the arrival of the bridal car, we captured loads of natural dialogue in the house providing a nice sound mix for the final cut
Hugginstown village is located between Kilkenny and Waterford in south Kilkenny, Hugginstown is associated with Carrickshock GAA club, who play their hurling games in the village.
The wedding ceremony was conducted by Fr. Jim Murphy in the Church of the Holy Trinity Hugginstown, it was a nice relaxed ceremony, James Rice and Deirdre Gannon O’ Shea provided a beautiful selection of music and vocals.
Video coverage of Deirdre & Andrew’s big day concluded with the arrival of the the couple for the drinks reception in the ever popular Langton House Hotel which is one of the top wedding venues in Kilkenny.
The Set Theatre at Langtons was created by a London designer, it is a lovely drinks reception venue, the Set is also popular for private civil ceremonies or a full wedding reception or evening reception. Adding to the splender of the Set is the private courtyard where guests can relax and chill out over a coffee or a few drinks.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of filming two delightful weddings in Kilkenny, bumping into so many married couples that had hired Drangan Video to record their special day has provided food for thought regarding the content for this wedding news blog. One couple were celebrating their 10th wedding Anniversary other couples were looking forward to celebrating 5 years of married bliss, in this article we are taking a closer look at wedding anniversary gifts.
Now that you have tied the knot and are looking forward to a wonderful future together, it’s important that you take time to remember your big day year after year. In this article we are going to talk about the traditional gifts that are associated with each anniversary up to the 30-year mark. We’ll explore the gifts associated with later anniversaries in a later article.
1st Anniversary – Paper
Celebrate your first anniversary with a gift made of paper. Whether you choose a favourite first edition book, a diary, a photo album or tickets to a special event, paper should be the centerpiece of your gift.
2nd Anniversary – Cotton
The gift most associated with a second wedding anniversary is cotton. Choose from candles that smell of cotton or bathrobes to snuggle up in.
3rd Anniversary – Leather
Leather is traditionally associated with gifts for your third wedding anniversary, the beauty of a leather gift is that it will last for years if good quality. Opt for a smart wallet/purse, a handbag or satchel or a leather bound book or diary.
4th Anniversary – Fruit and Flowers
This one is pretty self explanatory, treat your loved one to a hamper of fruit and flowers, perhaps organise a picnic or prepare something fruity for dessert that evening.
5th Anniversary – Wood
Your wooden anniversary can be celebrated by gifting a jewellery box, a handcrafted sign or trinket box or a framed picture of your big day or another special occasion you have celebrated over the past 5 years.
6th Anniversary – Sugar
Something sweet for someone sweet, gifts don’t get easier that this! Treat your loved one to candy canes and chocolate on this special day.
7th Anniversary – Copper & Wool
Copper jewellery, comfy woolen scarves or a combination of both can make this anniversary a day to remember. Ireland has a wealth of handcrafted items on offer in both copper and wool so you can be sure you’ll find something wonderful to gift to your loved one.
8th Anniversary – Bronze
Bronze represents strength and unity due to being a product of copper and tin. This special anniversary allows you to explore the many bronze Irish crafts available in most cities, towns and villages across Ireland.
9th Anniversary – Pottery or Willow
Pottery and Willow are said to be representative of a 9th wedding anniversary because they can both be used to create strong, lasting products. Both are flexible but with creativity and determination can transform into strong treasured items.
10th Anniversary – Tin
Tin can be used to store perishables and delicacies, keeping them safe and preserved for future nourishment. Tin represents strength and protection so it’s absolutely perfect for celebrating your tenth wedding anniversary.
15th Anniversary – Crystal
If you’re determined to stick to traditional anniversary gifts, this is where the price may become a bit higher than you have been used to over the past 14 years. Luckily the price of crystal has come down in recent years and good quality crystal can be purchased for a reasonable price.
20th Anniversary – China
China has always been the gift of choice for those celebrating their 20th anniversary, however more modern gifts have been associated with platinum, we’ll let you choose!!
25th Anniversary – Silver
Silver never goes out of fashion, it’s pretty much timeless and can be used for everything from jewellery to electronics. We can’t think of a better gift for your 25th anniversary.
30th Anniversary – Pearls
Pearls are said to be a symbol of beauty hidden within, however they also represent strength and unity and are the perfect representation of your 30-year marriage.
Drop back shortly to read our follow up article on the gifts associated with wedding anniversaries from 30 to 50 years.

Here at Drangan Video in Tipperary we just love local weddings, every year we are fortunate to provide videography for so many weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and many other counties , thanks to all the happy couples past and future that have said yes to us as their preferred choice of wedding videographer.
In this week’s blog news we are delighted to be featuring a very local wedding that of Catherine Maher and Tom Kennedy, the Maher family are our closest neighbours, just a 3 min drive from our studio in Drangan it was my shortest journey ever to a bridal preps location.
Catherine is the youngest and the only girl in a family of four, the photo that she is holding is that of her late Mum and Dad, it was a morning of mixed emotions for this beautiful young Bride to be. Catherine’s older brothers have always looked out for her, they pulled out all the stops for her big day on Saturday May 6th 2017 leaving no stone unturned in making it the happiest day of her life.
The Maher family were so friendly and welcoming, cups of tea, snacks and cakes were a slight distraction for the videographer. When the Bride was dressed and ready she stopped off at the old family farm house for photos with her brothers, Catherine has happy memories of the old homestead and her parents.
Drangan Village/ Drangan Video
When we set up our videography business one of the first tasks was choosing a company name for our new business venture, we decided to call it after our local village, we are proud to be keeping our small village on the map with our company brand name.
The church of the Immaculate Conception is situated smack bang in the middle of Drangan, the Archway Bar is only a two minute walk from the church so no prize given for figuring out where to find Tom and the boys, it was another nice opportunity to grab nice pre -ceremony footage for the wedding film
The wedding ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Tony Lambe, it was a nice ceremony Fr. Tony’s light hearted approach helped to keep the slightly nervous bride and groom calm a relaxed throughout, Andrea Ruth Houlihan provided the church music and singing, her amazing voice filled every corner of the crowed church. Tom is a proud follower of Tipperary Hurling he hails from Carrick On Suir and plays hurling with his local GAA club, Catherine and Tom now mr. and mrs. Kennedy were greeted by an archway of clattering hurls formed by Tom’s team mates , its always a moment worth capturing on video.
Edmund Rice Heritage Centre Callan Kilkenny
We stopped off the Edmund Rice Heritage Centre , Wescourt Callan, for the photo shoot with the bridal party.
Blessed Edmund Rice was the founder of the Christian Brothers and Presentation Brothers.
The thatched house at “Westcourt”, Callan, Co. Kilkenny in which Edmund was born is almost 300 years old. The perfectly preserved house consists of six rooms a kitchen, parlour, breakfast room and three bedrooms. The grounds surrounding the house are lovely for wedding video and photo shoots, we got some great video shots with Catherine and Tom, just natural relaxed footage of a couple very much in love and enjoying their first hours as husband and wife.
Hotel Kilkenny Wedding Venue
Hotel Kilkenny is one of my favourite wedding venues in Kilkenny, Catherine and Tom enjoyed a fab wedding reception in the upper level Skyline Suite.
Catherine and Tom were the ideal couple to work with, both so relaxed and easygoing they are delighted with their wedding video and the short edit highlights film.

The majority of Irish couples are hiring a videographer to film their wedding day in order to relive those special memories over and over for the rest of their lives.
Drones are becoming more and more popular at weddings, improvements in aerial video technology have reached new levels in picture quality, camera size and flight control.
Here at Drangan Video we offer drone videography with all our wedding packages this helps us to go above and beyond and greatly enhance our standard wedding films
In this blog post we would like to introduce you to one of the very latest trends in wedding videography – drone footage.
Drone videography is a trend that has developed enormously over the last 5 years in Ireland. No longer just a hobby, the development of state of the art drones and onboard cameras and videos now mean drone footage can make a huge statement on your big day.
What is a Drone?
A drone is a remotely controlled unmanned aircraft. For the purposes of capturing your big day from the sky, our state of the art drones use onboard cameras that allow us to deliver incredible footage of your wedding from a perspective that will take your breath away.
Approved Drone Pilot:
Our approved drone pilot is registered on the ASSET drone registry, which is a national database of approved drone pilots operating in Ireland. This register is regulated by the IAA (Irish Aviation Authority). Since 2015, all drones over 1kg or any drone regardless of size that flies over 15m above the ground or water, must be registered with the IAA.
Expert Drone Pilot:
Drangan Video work with http://hiddengemmemories.com to deliver the most professional drone wedding videography available on the Irish market today.
Benefits of Drone Videography for your Wedding:
• Fantastic group footage: Whilst your guests are mingling after the ceremony, it’s nigh on impossible to get them all together for some video footage. With our onboard drone cameras we can capture the scene from above, meaning no one is left out of the picture.
• You and your loved one have gone to a lot of trouble to book the perfect venue, wouldn’t you like that captured on video to remember for the rest of your life? All to often, couples spend months visiting venues in order to choose the perfect location, but how often does that venue get featured in all it’s glory in the wedding video? With our drone, we can capture the venue from above, so you can remember just why you chose this special place.
• Location shots: If you are lucky enough to be getting married in a scenic spot, we will work with you to develop a plan to capture all of the most scenic locations on your wedding day.
• Impress your guests: As drone wedding videography is a relatively new wedding service in Ireland, you can be assured that our service will surprise and delight your guests. A great icebreaker and talking point that will ease your guests into the celebrations of the day.
Here at Drangan Video we can offer a full range of services to capture your big day in all its glory:
• Expert wedding videography,
• Extra videographer if required, that will allow us to capture 2 locations at the same time,
