Thanks for dropping by and opening my latest wedding  news blog,  if you are from Kilkenny  and planning on  hiring a wedding videographer to record your big day, please keep reading.
Today I am proud to sharing  the following video highlights from the wedding of Martina and Darren  who  tied the knot in St. Canice’s Church, they enjoyed a fab wedding reception in Hotel Kilkenny.

Martina and Darren contacted back in 2015 with a view to having their special day filmed, their wedding was still two years away but they had made a list of wedding suppliers that they wanted to work with, so they were taking no chances on availability.
Here at Drangan Video in Kilkenny we are noticing a changing trend regarding our wedding bookings, couples  are getting engaged then straight away are in to full steam ahead wedding planning, just yesterday we took three bookings for wedding videos in 2020 it seems so far away, I feel very honored that those couples are so impressed by my work  by having Drangan Video on their favorite list of wedding suppliers.

The video coverage of Martina and Darren’s big day began with the ever popular bridal preps which took place in Hotel Kilkenny just a few minutes form the church.  John Delaney was on duty as the official wedding photographer for the day, John and myself  work very well together some of my best wedding films were shot with John, he has a lovey way abut him keeping everyone so  relaxed and smiling.

The wedding ceremony took place in St. Canice’s  Church Fr. Kieran O’ Shea conducted a lovely ceremony his relaxed manner helped  our Bride and Groom  to actually enjoy the ceremony without taking what is often described as a  daunting  task too  seriously.

Wedding Videographer Kilkenny

After the ceremony  our next location was the Castle Park Kilkenny, it is the ideal location for a wedding video shoot, the grounds are so well maintained always in  imaculate condition the lawns are like carpets surrounded  by  multi Coloured flowers and shrubs providing a beautiful back drop for a creative video shoot.

Hotel Kilkenny

Martina and Darren made a good decision in choosing Hotel Kilkenny for what was perfect summer wedding reception in the Orchard Suite, with its  walled garden and separate  entrance  I can only describe it as the ideal wedding reception location in Kilkenny.

Martina and Darren were the ideal couple to work with they were friendly and relaxed on the day  and great fun, shooting  their wedding video did not feel like work it was more like been there as a wedding guest.

Celebrating your 2017 Christmas Wedding

This blog post is all about you fabulous couples who are tying the knot this festive season. Over the past decade, there has been a dramatic surge in winter weddings, particularly from the 15th – 31st of December and we can fully understand the appeal for this long-lasting trend. What better time of the year could you imagine to celebrate your love, all of your friends and family are most likely on annual leave from their holidays, the seasonal Christmas decorations adorn every venue and who doesn’t love bopping to Christmas tunes on the dance floor after a luscious meal of turkey and ham??

In this article we are going to give some quick tips for those of you who are getting married over the next few weeks. We hope you have a wonderful day and maybe even get some snow to top it all off!

Christmas wedding video in Tipperary

Just last Christmas we provided wedding videography for a wedding in Tipperary, and I have to say it was a wonderfully festive occasion. However, there were some obstacles that had to be overcome due to inclement weather – and you have never met a bride who was more prepared. Today I am going to share the tips she passed on to me on that cold December day.

1. Invest in some winter woollies – no one will ever know!
When you’re standing around for the best part of 3 hours, between the ceremony and the photography location, you’ll want to invest in some warm undergarments for yourself and the bridal party.

2. Serve hot drinks to your guests.
Upon arrival at your chosen venue, offer your guests a warming drink such as tea, coffee, mulled wine or hot whiskeys. Paying attention to your guests in this manner will ensure they are comfortable, relaxed and warm. It’s the little touches that will make your guests feel taken care of.

3. Umbrellas, umbrellas and more umbrellas
Let’s be honest, this tip should be adhered to no matter what the month is when it comes to Irish weather! Invest in some good golf umbrellas to hand out to your guests or ask them to bring one with them. Even if the forecast is dry for that day, you can never be too prepared when it comes to Irish weather.

4. Bring a second pair of shoes.
If you and your bridal party are going to be outdoors for any length of time, whether that be for photographs or a video shoot, it may be an idea to bring a second pair of shoes so your bridal pair aren’t subjected to the mud or water logged grounds that can often be a big part of Decembers weather.

5. Give yourself some extra time
When planning your trip to the ceremony venue, give yourself some extra time to get there. Fashionably late is all very well but if you’re travelling on icy roads, you may be later than you hoped for. Time delays due to inclement weather should also be taken into consideration when travelling from the ceremony venue to the reception. For those of you who are having the ceremony and the reception in the same venue, you won’t have to worry about this so much and that is truly great forward planning on your behalf, we salute you!

Don’t Sacrifice Videography on your Big Day

As a professional wedding videographer, you might very well think I’m chancing my arm by saying you shouldn’t sacrifice wedding videography on your big day! I can assure you that this is not the case, I know only too well that a couple on a budget need to watch their spending and 100% realise that not everyone can afford all the frills and extras that are associated with weddings in Ireland today.

Over the past decade I have had the pleasure of providing wedding videography services to couples in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Dublin, Cork and Galway to name but a few, and I am always delighted to get feedback that assures me of the importance of a wedding video after the big day has passed.

Wedding Videography  in Tipperary and Kilkenny

Most couples in Ireland need to save for years to come anywhere close to affording a wedding, particularly for the reception, music and food costs. In the majority of cases, brides and grooms will sit down and make out a realistic budget and try to stick to it. In some cases, this budget simply may not allow them to enjoy all the services that are on offer today and in a lot of cases, videography is one of the first things that come off the wish list. However, after speaking with brides and grooms after their weddings, it seems to be one of their greatest regrets. Why spend all that money and never get to look back and enjoy the moment again?

This is why the team here at Drangan Video have developed wedding videography packages to suit absolutely every budget. We don’t mind where you’re based in the country and we will never charge you more to get to your chosen venue. All the extras are included in our packages so you will never be hit with any hidden costs, and I can assure you that having your wedding memories on hand to watch whenever you like will be one of the best decisions you could possible make.

Wedding films in Tipperary

Now that I have finished blowing my own trumpet for a bit, you’ll probably want me to back up my opinion with some solid information. Here you go:

• All editing at Drangan Video is done in-house; we don’t send your video off to a third party to be edited. This cuts down on costs, which we always pass on to the customer.
• No charge for traveling to far off destinations – unless of course you would like to fly us to the Maldives for your big day (which we are happy to let you do!).
• All wedding videography is provided by Eamon, decades of experience in an industry that tends to have new service providers popping up every day.
• 1000’s of satisfied customers up and down the country.
• If you have a strict budget, we are happy to talk with you and get those costs down, while still providing a top-notch service.
• State of the art equipment used every time.
• Because of our years of experience, we know all the best places to shoot the more unusual wedding videos. We also have a great rapport with venues up and down the country.

If you still feel that you need to cut some services from your wish list, have a chat with myself Eamon first and I will do everything I can to make your dreams come true without sacrificing the memories of your big day on a wedding video

How big, how much? Our Guide to what you’ll need on the Big Day

The time has come for you to start ordering services, flowers, food and drink for the big day, and we can fully empathise with the panic that sometimes goes hand in hand with this process. With this in mind we have put together a quick guide that we hope you’ll find helpful.

Ordering the Cake

Under normal circumstances, ordering a cake should be as straight forward as ordering a coffee. However, when it comes to wedding planning, you really have to be thinking on your feet. When the time comes to speak to your local baker or wedding specialist, you’ll most likely already have a budget set aside for your wedding cake, but have you considered the size or the numbers?

Planning advice and tips for your wedding in Kilkenny

When ordering your wedding cake, the following calculations should be taken into consideration:

With the following tier sizes you should easily be able to calculate how many guests can indulge in your gorgeous wedding cake:

Square Tiers

12”x18” – This whopping tier size will ensure up to 55 of your wedding guests will get a slice of cake.
11”x15” – You should comfortably feed 35 guests with a generous slice of cake.
9”x13” – Perfect for a smaller wedding or to stack on top of a large tier for those of you who are celebrating with a large group of friends or family, this tier will feed 20-25 people.
7”x11” – Generally this size will be used with larger tiers and perhaps another smaller tier on top. Used alone, this size will comfortably allow 15 of your guests to indulge in a tasty treat.

Round Tiers

10” – A 10” round cake will serve up to 25 guests.
8” – This smaller size will serve up to 10 people.
6” – A tidy 6” tier will comfortably allow 6 of your wedding guests to indulge in a piece of your celebratory cake.

For those of you who are celebrating with larger numbers, simply start out with the larger tier sizes and stack a smaller tier or two on top to reach the number of servings you require.

Calculating drinks for the toast or wine for the table

We often talk to brides and grooms who have miscalculated the amount of alcoholic beverages required for the evening of their wedding. In most cases, guests will buy their own drinks for the night, however it is customary to provide wine at the table during the meal or treat your guests to a drink for the toasts and speeches. How to calculate what to order can be a bit of a minefield, so we hope that this helps with your planning!

Wine for the table.

A general rule of thumb to consider is 2 glasses per person, per table. This will equate to half a bottle per person. Then you have to figure out which is more popular, red or white?

Autumn, winter and early spring weddings:
This is the time of year when guests are more likely to drink red wine. When the weather is cold and the evenings are dark, a glass of red wine is more likely to be chosen than a glass of white or sparkling wine.

Late spring and summer weddings:
As you would expect, with warmer weather and long bright evenings, we are more likely to opt for a more refreshing drink. In this case, you should assume that the majority of guests will opt for a white wine, a spritzer or a sparkling wine if it is on offer.
