Happy Wedding Video Memories Slieverue Kilkenny

Its now mid January 2017 the weather is seasonally cold and the sun is hiding behind the winter clouds, spring is around the corner.
In this wedding blog article  I’m  sharing  a highlight clip from the wedding of Grace and Richard who were married in the Church of the Assumption Slieverue on June 18th 2016.

The story begins with bridal preps with Grace and the girls, which took place in Grace’s parents house, as I arrived at the house I was amazed by the beautifully landscaped gardens that surrounded the house, Grace’s Dad  has spent years developing and caring for the lawns and gardens,  after the ceremony we came back to the house for family photos and video footage, Dad was feeling very proud.

Grace and Richard had me booked  to shoot their wedding video two years in advance, like so many other couples they had researched   wedding videographers  in both Kilkenny and Tipperary, they were very impressed with what drangan video was offering and they really liked the sample videos on our website and facebook page.

Brandon House Hotel New Ross Wexford

Grace and Richard enjoyed a fab wedding reception in The Four Star Brandon House Hotel,  it is a Country Manor House  situated just off the N25 in the historical town of New Ross.  I love shooting wedding videos in Brandon House every time that I drive up the  driveway to this  beautiful and romantic country house hotel  I say to myself this is going to be another perfect day.

In this blog post I am going to briefly cover some trends that appear to be most popularly forecasted for 2017 and will go on to cover them in more detail in later post. Paper, Paper, Everywhere!

It seems that our love for technology has not diminished our love for the more traditional things in life, and for that I am most grateful. This coming 2017 wedding season sees paper take centre stage once more, and we’re not just talking about your wedding stationery here! 2017 looks to put paper the forefront of wedding décor, everything from centrepieces to bouquets can all be crafted from craft paper, tissue and recycled materials. This is a trend we are delighted to see, and remember it can all be recycled so there’s no waste and let’s face it, paper is so very easy to source in a variety of finishes, weights and designs.

First Look Photographs and Videos

Whilst it does go against the tradition of not seeing the bride before the wedding, first look photo’s and videos are becoming increasingly popular amongst Irish couples. That wonderful moment when you first clap eyes on each other before your wedding can be one of the most beautiful and emotional images you can take on your wedding day. For more information on first look photography and videography, see our recent blog post, which explains all you need to know.

Wedding Apps

This year has seen the removal of the disposable camera from tables up and down the country. This tradition had lasted even longer than we anticipated considering everyone has their own camera in their pocket these days. However, we are now seeing an upsurge in wedding apps, which allow your guests to take photos on their phone and upload them to your very own wedding album. Check out our favourite wedding app wedpics to see how you can involve your wedding guests in making your day all that more special.

Rose Gold, Ruffles and Romance

2017 sees the return of romantic colours such as peach, dusky rose, rose gold and rich cream to the wedding palette. We absolutely love these colours and they look exceptionally well in photos and video on the big day. We also see more romantic trends returning such as ruffles, lace, corsages and headpieces of feather and pearl.

Over the coming months we will be further exploring 2017 wedding trends and we would absolutely love to hear from any of our potential brides and grooms with any tips they might have.

This year has seen an abundance of new trends for Irish Brides and Grooms, many of which are likely to continue right through to 2017. Home-made Wedding Decor

Over the past year we have been blessed to video the most wonderful weddings up and down the country. What we noticed more and more as the month’s flew by was that Brides and Grooms were becoming more adventurous with the DIY aspect of their wedding décor. Some of the wonderful home-made touches we were lucky enough to enjoy included:

  • DIY Table centrepieces’,
  • Homemade wedding invitations,
  • Hand drawn place settings,
  • Twinkle lights and seasonal décor brought to new life by creative couples.

Alternative Wedding Suppliers

We have also seen an influx of new and exciting service providers, meaning the traditional aspects of a wedding ceremony are now not the only things to look forward to for guests and family.

  • Sweet Carts – stocked with wonderfully colourful candy and customised sweet jars and cups for guests to take away as a memento of the big day.
  • Make your own Tayto sandwich stand – without doubt one of the most impressive stands I’ve seen. Each guest could take away a pack that included bread, butter, plastic knife and of course a packet of cheese and onion Taytos. We were assured that this went down very well with all guests who were only too happy to have a quick and easy snack the morning after the festivities.
  • Bouncy castles, portable playgrounds and kids entertainment the likes of which we had never witnessed before. These extra touches go a long way for the little ones attending your big day and mean that the parents can relax without wondering if the festivities are a little too much for their child.

Alternative Wedding Guestbooks

There has also been some fabulously creative alternatives to the traditional guestbook

  • Wedding guestbook frames – write your message to the bride and groom on a little wooden heart and pop it into the frame provided through a little slot on the top. A wonderful keepsake for the Bride and Groom and something that will have them thinking of their wedding day for years to come.
  • Fingerprint wedding guestbook. Instead of writing on a traditional guest book, guests dip their finger or thumb in some paint or ink and stamp it on the canvas provided, along with their initials or a little note.
  • Christmas baubles – One wedding we worked at last Christmas, gave each of their guests a plain Christmas tree bauble along with a silver/gold pen and asked guests to write their names and hang it on the tree in the reception venue. A beautiful sight at the end of the night!

First Look Photography and Videography

In todays blog post we are going to discuss a wedding trend, which has only recently reached Irish shores. This trend has been growing increasingly popular in both the UK and US over the past number of years and now looks set to be a firm Irish favourite with brides and grooms up and down the country.

When we speak about ‘First Look’ photographs or videos, we are talking about setting the stage for the day to come by bringing the bride and groom together before the ceremony for a photograph or video like no other. The more traditional amongst you may balk at this idea, and that is perfectly normal, quite a few of us traditionalists out there are quite happy to leave the first glimpse of our intended until we get to the altar or celebrant on the big day. However, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to capture a moment that is  uniquely special, feel free to read on and see how this whole trend has captured the imagination of millions across the globe.

First Look Photographs and Videos.

So, the say is upon you, you’re dressed in all your finery and ready to exchange vows with the partner of your dreams. Traditionally you wouldn’t clap eyes on them until you reach the altar, however, this time, you’re going to try something a little bit different!

Setting the stage for the first look

Most photographers and videographers will help you with the setting, props and details for your first look, so make sure you discuss this with them in advance. The idea is, that you and your intended are brought to a location of your choice in separate cars, you can be blindfolded and both arrive at the same time, or one of you can arrive before the other. The photographer/videographer will be there ready to capture the moment you both lay eyes on each other. We have seen fantastic examples of these images where photographers take images of you both first separately and then place you back to back for another image. You then get to turn around and face each other, for what I can only describe as a breath-taking moment. Now imagine this captured on film forever!

Now, you may be wondering why the photographer or videographer cannot do the same thing in the church when you reach the altar? Well, the wonder of a first look image or video is that it is just between you and your intended, no family or friends will be present (unless you prefer they were there), and you get to choose the setting. Perhaps you could organise your first look at a local landmark or in the café where you first met? The options are endless, the results are fantastic and the emotions that go with meeting your bride or groom in a place that is special to you both cannot be matched.

If this wedding blog post has you considering a first look video, feel free to get in touch with Eamon here at Drangan who can talk you through everything that is involved and show you some samples of previous first look wedding videos which were filmed throughout Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork and Limerick.
