Why we Love September Weddings

Are you and your beloved getting married this month? Hearty congratulations to you both from all at Drangan Video!

In this article we are going to talk about September weddings, why we love them so much and why September is the most popular month of the year to get married in Ireland.

Did you know that over 15% of weddings in Ireland take place in September? This early autumn month has long been a favourite of Irish brides and grooms and with very good reason:

September Weddings Tipperary and Kilkenny

• For those of you who are hoping for a bit of sunshine on your big day but don’t have a budget for a wedding in June or July, September is the perfect month to get married. Prices for weddings in September are substantially lower than June, July or August.
• From September onwards the natural colours around us change to breath stopping oranges, ambers, golds and reds. This gives you the opportunity to capture the most amazing photographs and video footage for your big day.
• There’s still some heat in the air and a good chance of sunshine in September. Whilst the calendar tells us it’s autumn, September is historically a really pleasant month here in Ireland.
• Autumnal flowers – For those of you who want something a little bit different for your floral décor or bouquets, September offers a beautiful range of colours that are not available at other times of the year. Golds, browns, yellows and bronzes along with brighter more exotic colours are all available throughout September without the additional cost associated with summer blooms. You may also have the advantage of designing your own floral bouquets by using what is available in nature during this wonderful month.
• The daylight hours are starting to shorten, but you can still enjoy the sunshine up until 7:30 pm in the earlier weeks of September. After this time the weather should still be pleasant enough for your guests to sit outside if they wish. This is a wonderful opportunity to decorate your outdoor area with candles, lanterns and atmospheric party lighting.
• September sunsets – Traditionally, the sunsets in September are breathtakingly beautiful and will make for a truly impressive backdrop for any photography or videography.

Wedding Videography Trends in 2018

Over the past number of years, we have seen some fabulous wedding video trends emerge and it certainly looks like they are here to stay. Have a look at the list below and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, do make sure you get in touch so we can accommodate you in any way we can.

Wedding Videography Trends 2018

Some of the most popular trends in recent years look to stand the test of time.

Wedding Video Guestbook
Instead of asking your guests to sign a traditional guest book that will most likely sit in a drawer gathering dust over the next few decades, why not ask them to participate in a video guestbook.

The team here at Drangan Video will be happy to set up our equipment in a discreet location of your venue and speak with guests who wish to leave you a video message on your happy day.

Wedding Bloopers
A trend that will have you and your loved ones laughing long into the future. In times past, these wonderful snippets would have ended up on the cutting room floor, never to be seen or mentioned again! With Drangan Video however, we can compile and little ‘slip-ups’ or funny moments into a fun, memorable compilation for you to enjoy with your friends, family and loved ones.

Wedding Videography Packages

Combining Video and Photography
Still photography shots included in your wedding video can make a truly wonderful impact when integrated by a professional editor like Eamon. Make your wedding video a little bit different whilst never missing a moment of the day.

The First Look
This trend has been quite popular for a number of years now and looks set to become a permanent feature of the wedding video and photograph album.

Before the ceremony, before all the guests see the bride and groom, we take them somewhere special where they get to see each other in all their finery for the very first time. This moment is captured forever on video and is incredibly special for the couple who then go on to the venue to exchange their vows.

Drone Footage
Drangan Video works closely with a fully licensed drone photographer to provide you with aerial footage on your big day. Perhaps you would like an impressive group shot on the grounds of your venue or in a location that holds a special place in your heart? Aerial/drone footage is one of the most exciting additions to the wedding memory box and we love nothing more than a trend that really makes an impact like this.

As you can see from the list above, the list of wedding videography trends just keeps on growing. Last year it was all about the choreographed wedding dance video, which is still hugely popular, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on emerging trends for inspiration and ideas for your big day.

Whether you require traditional wedding videography, documentary style or drone footage, the team here at Drangan Video will be delighted to assist you on your big day. Get in touch with Eamon today to learn more about the video style that is perfect for your wedding.

Important Decisions when planning your Wedding

For those of you who have just gotten engaged and are looking forward to planning your big day, let us first say a very hearty congratulations to you and your loved one. In this blog post we are going to look at the very first (and most important) decisions you need to make to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Checking your wedding planning list
What type of Wedding would you like?

One of the very first things you should discuss as a couple is what type of wedding you would like. Would you like to get married in a registry office, a favourite hotel, on a sandy beach in the sun or through a religious ceremony in your local church or temple? This is probably the most important decision you will make and once you have decided, then everything else is full steam ahead!

Are you going to celebrate your Engagement with a Party?

More and more couples are opting for engagement celebrations these days and we certainly agree that it’s a great way to celebrate your love and get started with the wedding planning process. Whether you opt for a low-key family affair or decide to splash out on a weekend of celebrations, how you celebrate is totally up to you. Some couples opt to share a meal with family and postpone the real celebrations for the big day. Whatever the choice you make, we’re sure you’ll have the very best time.

Planning the perfect wedding day
Decide on Potential Wedding Dates

Not that you have celebrated your engagement and decided on the type of ceremony you would like to have, it’s time to get down to the business of deciding a date. We would recommend choosing a number of dates that would work for you; this will give you more options when booking venues. Keep in mind that a mid-week wedding will give you far more value for money and will keep the budget down considerably. Once you move into weekend or bank holiday territory you can add thousands to the cost of your day and also increase costs for guests who may want to stay at your venue of choice.

Explore a Number of Venues.

Whether you require one venue or two, it is vitally important that you start exploring your options as soon as you possibly can. Hotel and wedding venues can book up quite fast during the summer months, so if you are planning a summer wedding make sure you get planning as early as possible.

Wedding preparations save the date
Choosing the Bridal Party

Time to sit down and decide firstly, how many individuals will make up your bridal party.

• Bridesmaids – how many and who.
• Groomsmen – how many and who.
• Maid of Honour
• Best Man
• Paige Boy
• Flower Girl

Paige boys and flower girls are not a necessity, however if you have some special children in your life that you would like to be part of your big day, then this could be a way to make them feel incredibly special.

More important decisions:

• Put a firm budget in place.
• Plan your guest list.
• Should you find yourself busy with work or other commitments, it may be an idea to hire a wedding planner at this early stage.

Wedding planning tips and advice

Once the big decisions have been made, you can then proceed with contacting wedding suppliers and vendors to make your special day a day to remember.

Wherever you are in the wedding planning process, the team here at Drangan Video would absolutely love to hear from you. We provide professional wedding videography services right across Ireland and will be happy to travel to your venue of choice to capture your big day.

Overcoming the Nerves before your Wedding Speech

In this wedding blog post we are offering some tips and advice on overcoming the nerves before your Wedding Speech, here at Drangan Video we have attended  our fair share of weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and many other counties up and down the country, so its fair to say that we have heard  more wedding speeches than than your average Joe.
In 2013 our beautiful daughter celebrated her wedding in Langton House Hotel in Kilkenny it was a day that my wife and myself will never forget, we were looking forward to the day for so long, one of my father of the bride duties was to stand up and deliver a speech, it was an honor to stand up and talk. Traditionally, the first  speaker at an  Irish wedding is indeed the Father of the Bride, was I nervous ?  the answer is yes !!

Wedding blog news Tipperary Weddings

Delivering a speech is never an easy task, particularly if you’re not comfortable with public speaking. In this blog post we are going to explore some tips that we believe will ease your nerves and assist with the preparations. Whether you’re delivering a speech as the Best Man, the Bride, Groom or Parent, these tips will help you to remain calm, cover all the important points and leave your audience feeling all warm and fuzzy!

Most wedding speeches will be highly anticipated by all guests at the wedding, so it’s important that you put real time and effort into delivering a speech that covers all of the most important points.

Writing the Wedding Speech

Always speak aloud before you start writing! This may seem a bit strange, but once you have spoken the words out loud, you begin to formulate other ideas in a way that flows more naturally. This practice will also assist with calming any nerves you may be experiencing.

Practice your Breathing

Really? Yes, breathing comes naturally we know that, but keeping your breathing relaxed and steady during the delivery of your speech, will allow you to remain calm and speak without stuttering or getting panicked.

Ask a Friend to be your Ears

Enlist the help of a good friend to sit and listen to your speech. Choose someone who isn’t afraid to give you honest feedback, someone who will boost your confidence and give you the encouragement you need.

Make Note Cards

It’s not always necessary to write down your speech word for word, you will want to sound natural on the day and perhaps adlib a bit from time to time. Word cards with bullet points that will steer you in the right direction will work wonders. Here are some of the points you can list on your notes:

• Who to thank
• Names of everyone at the top table
• Pointers
• ‘ Tell the story about……’

Avoid too much Alcohol or Caffeine before the Speech

As tempting as it may be to indulge in some dutch courage before the speeches, it’s probably a better idea to wait until the speech has been delivered before you partake of any alcohol. Try to steer clear from too much caffeine as well, as this can bring on feelings of anxiety if you’re already feeling a little nervous.

Be Assured you are Surrounded by Friends

If you start to feel a bit anxious or nervous, know that you are surrounded by friends and family that know and love you. They don’t mind if you stumble on your words a bit or seem a bit nervous. Remember that you have probably spoken to everyone in this room already at some stage, so there are no strangers here or people that judge you.

Nerves are Good

Nerves are there to remind us that we are doing something important. Surely that’s a good thing right? All you need to do is take that first leap and the rest of the speech will follow with ease. The adrenalin you get from that first round of applause or shriek of laughter will leave you feeling full of confidence.

Practice, Practice, Practice

This should go without saying, but you would be surprised at the amount of people who don’t take this advice. Practice will help you to deliver a polished speech with ease and clarity, the more you practice, the more accomplished your delivery will become.
