Well it is certainly beginning to feel allot like Christmas the weather is cold outside who knows it might even snow.
I shot my last pre Christmas wedding yesterday in Clonoulty in the heart of Tipperary, I am looking forward to my Christmas break until December 27, then for me its back to back wedding videos in Tipperary and Kilkenny right up the January 1st 2017.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers past, present and future a very happy and exciting Christmas, Im also looking forward to meeting and working with our 2017, 2018 and 2019 couples who have chosen Drangan Video to film their special day.
Drangan Video provides wedding video services across Tipperary, Kilkenny, Calow, Waterford, Limerick and many other counties in Ireland, we have a strong insight into the costs that can be associated with planning a wedding. We sometime see brides and grooms start to panic as the costs mount up and want to put your mind at ease by listing some of the hidden extras you may not be considering. Once you have these included in your budget from an early date you can be assured there will be no extra little surprises when it comes to paying for products or services on the big day.
In this article we are going to concentrate only on the costs, which may not be initially obvious when setting out your wedding budget:
Some venues will provide chair covers and other room décor as part of their package price; however, we have found more recently that these costs are increasingly being charged as extras to the bride and groom. Ask your venue organiser what décor is included in the room rental.
When it comes to ordering wine for your guests at the wedding, you will find that different venues will offer different options. Some hotels will be happy to include wine in your package price or indeed offer you a reduced rate on their own house wines. Others will charge quite a hefty fee. When this happens you may consider sourcing your own wine. There is however in most cases a hidden extra fee with this..’Corkage’. Ask your venue what their corkage fee is and if they are willing to waive it. (If you don’t ask you don’t get!). We have seen venues charge as much as €10 per bottle on corkage so make sure you check this out as early as possible to allow for extra in your budget.
With any wedding, you want your guests to enjoy their night right into the early hours and of course be able to partake of a few refreshments along the way. Be aware that if you are getting married on a weekday, legally the bar needs to close by 11:30. If you want your guests to enjoy another few hours of dancing but would also like to have access to a full bar, you may have to pay extra for later serving hours. In most cases a bar extension of two hours will cost €150 plus any additional staff costs.
Others Hidden Costs
Other hidden costs can include but are not limited to:
Doormen if you want to ensure guests only at the bar extension
Welcome teas and coffees
We hope you have found the above information useful and can assure you that here at Drangan Video there are no hidden extras. We will provide you with a price upfront and in full, which will include everything in the package of your choice. Our price will also include any travel costs so whether you’re based in Tipperary, Kilkenny or elsewhere we will be more than happy to travel to your part of the country without you incurring any extra costs.

The beauty about getting married in counties such as Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow or Waterford is that you are always surrounded by nature, scenic views and a unique heritage. The same of course is true for all counties in Ireland, so why not make the most of the wonderful land we live in by making it an integral part of your big day.
Nature-inspired wedding décor adds such a unique touch to weddings. We’ve seen brides and grooms across the country incorporate nature into their wedding décor with simply breath-taking results.
There are so many different ways that you can incorporate elements of nature into your big day, here are some of the more unique elements we have witnessed while filming weddings throughout the country!
Seeing love-struck Initials carved onto tree bark is one of the oldest and most iconic symbols of love in the modern world, so, why not incorporate something similar into your wedding day?
On one occasion we were delighted to witness that the bride and groom had their initials carved onto pieces of wood, which were heart-shaped, and then used to decorate the tables at the their wedding.
What a wonderful way to incorporate natural elements and even more romance into your wedding day!
Gilded Fruit Centrepieces
Fruit can make for a wonderful centrepiece all on its own, but if you want to make it even more extravagant, choose some metallic spray paints, and spray the fruit for a romantic touch. Gilded fruit looks absolutely beautiful at the centre of a wedding table. If you want the fruit to be more than just a centrepiece, opt for edible paint so that the guests can tuck in at any stage of the day or night
Wooden Table Numbers
When you have a sizeable guest list it makes sense to have your tables numbered or named so that every guest can easily find where they are sitting. Why not give your table numbers or names a touch of the outdoors and have them carved from a special piece of stone or wood? Guest names can also be etched onto pebbles from your favourite beach or placed with posies from your own garden.
Decorated Tree Branches
Tree branches, twigs and ferns can make a wonderful addition to the décor of your wedding. Consider placing tree branches in a tall cylinder vase, and add some fresh flowers alongside it to create a dramatic centrepiece. Scatter some tea lights to further enhance the outdoor theme.
There are so many ways in which you can incorporate nature into your big day, choose plants or features that are personal to you and your intended, perhaps items that tell some part of your very own story.

Are you in the process of planning your big day ? Perhaps you’re unsure of what wedding flowers may be in season for your preferred date? With this in mind, the team here at Drangan Video have put together a short list of just some of the flowers that are in season for each month of the year.
Here at Drangan Video in Tipperary, we have been lucky enough to witness hundreds of weddings across the country throughout the seasons. Whether you are planning a whimsical spring affair or a magical winter wedding, here is our list of seasonal bridal flowers for every month of the year!
January – Ranunculus (Buttercups)
Ranunculus flowers are delicate, feminine yellow flowers, which are in season during January, as well as during the following spring months. An unusual choice for a bouquet by themselves, they look wonderful mixed with other wild spring flowers.
February – Roses
Roses are a true wedding day classic. They are delicate, yet striking, bold, but elegant, and just simply beautiful. Most roses will be available year round in your local florist, however consider choosing some spring varieties to make your bouquet pop!
March – Lilacs
Lilacs simply scream spring – meaning there is no better flower for a March wedding. These dainty purple flowers are perfect for casual springtime weddings.
April – Peruvian Lilies
These popular, long lasting flowers come in a variety of different colours, from pale pink to bright orange and are ideal for a long stemmed bouquet.
May – Freesias
For a May wedding Freesias are a great option in a colourful posy. These flowers are “zygomorphic” which essentially means that they grow along one side of the stem. This gives them a really unique look. Freesias come in a range of beautiful colours, from burnt orange to hot pink.
June – Gardenias
Featuring beautiful ivory petals surrounded by dark green waxy leaves, Gardenias are one of the most exquisite flowers. For early summer weddings, Gardenias are a wonderful choice
July – Anthurium (Painter’s Palette)
Anthurium flowers are bright, bold and feature red, almost heart-shaped petals. These exotic looking flowers are ideal for sunny, warm July weddings and simply exude romance.
August – Delphinium
Delphinium flowers feature tall spires and clustered florets, making them a striking summer flower. These flowers are available in a variety of colours, including white, pink, lavender, purple and blue.
September – Cornflower
With its stunning dark blue colour, cornflowers are the perfect flower for early autumn weddings. Cornflowers feature dense, feathery petals and are generally blue, but are sometimes available in other colours, such as white and pink.
October – Lisianthus (Eustoma)
These exquisite flowers feature elegant, ruffled, rose-like, petals. Lisianthus flowers are available in various shades, including blue, white, pink, lavender, and deep purple, as well as bi-coloured.
November – Iris
Iris’s are becoming more popular with brides year on year, and with good reason. An elegant, delicate and classically beautiful choice for a bride on her big day.
December – Hyacinth
Hyacinths feature many small, dense clusters of blooms that are bunched together at the top of the stem. Available in blues, purples, pinks and whites this flower looks beautiful for winter weddings.
