Wedding Videography Trends in 2018

Over the past number of years, we have seen some fabulous wedding video trends emerge and it certainly looks like they are here to stay. Have a look at the list below and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, do make sure you get in touch so we can accommodate you in any way we can.

Wedding Videography Trends 2018

Some of the most popular trends in recent years look to stand the test of time.

Wedding Video Guestbook
Instead of asking your guests to sign a traditional guest book that will most likely sit in a drawer gathering dust over the next few decades, why not ask them to participate in a video guestbook.

The team here at Drangan Video will be happy to set up our equipment in a discreet location of your venue and speak with guests who wish to leave you a video message on your happy day.

Wedding Bloopers
A trend that will have you and your loved ones laughing long into the future. In times past, these wonderful snippets would have ended up on the cutting room floor, never to be seen or mentioned again! With Drangan Video however, we can compile and little ‘slip-ups’ or funny moments into a fun, memorable compilation for you to enjoy with your friends, family and loved ones.

Combining Video and Photography
Still photography shots included in your wedding video can make a truly wonderful impact when integrated by a professional editor like Eamon. Make your wedding video a little bit different whilst never missing a moment of the day.

The First Look
This trend has been quite popular for a number of years now and looks set to become a permanent feature of the wedding video and photograph album.

Before the ceremony, before all the guests see the bride and groom, we take them somewhere special where they get to see each other in all their finery for the very first time. This moment is captured forever on video and is incredibly special for the couple who then go on to the venue to exchange their vows.

Drone Footage
Drangan Video works closely with a fully licensed drone photographer to provide you with aerial footage on your big day. Perhaps you would like an impressive group shot on the grounds of your venue or in a location that holds a special place in your heart? Aerial/drone footage is one of the most exciting additions to the wedding memory box and we love nothing more than a trend that really makes an impact like this.

As you can see from the list above, the list of wedding videography trends just keeps on growing. Last year it was all about the choreographed wedding dance video, which is still hugely popular, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on emerging trends for inspiration and ideas for your big day.

Whether you require traditional wedding videography, documentary style or drone footage, the team here at Drangan Video will be delighted to assist you on your big day. Get in touch with Eamon today to learn more about the video style that is perfect for your wedding.

This article will touch on the duties of the best man and the maid of honour on your wedding day and in the weeks and months leading up to it. If you have recently been asked by a best friend or family member to be an integral part of their wedding by being a member of the bridal party then we hope you find this blog post helpful.

Duties of the Maid of Honour

The maid of honour plays an important role in both the planning stages of the wedding and on the big day itself. Prepare yourself for a busy few months ahead and do your very best take some of the strain and stress from the bride by being at her side throughout.

  • Organising the hen night – This will fall upon the maid of honour and the bridesmaids to organise, so make sure you plan a night that includes all of the brides favourite things. It may be tempting to initially choose activities or destinations that you yourself would like, so it’s important to ensure that you are giving the bride a night that is just perfect for her. After all she will only ever have one hen night!
  • Direct the bridesmaids – On the big day it will be your job to organise the bridesmaids, make sure they’re all positioned where they’re meant to be and address any issues that may arise.
  • Attend and organise the dress fittings: As the maid of honour it will be your duty to get the bridesmaids to all of their dress fittings and make sure they are well prepared for the day ahead. You should also attend the dress fittings with the bride and tell her just how wonderful she looks in her wedding dress of choice.
  • Help with decision-making – The bride will no doubt be overwhelmed with all the decisions that need to be made during the planning of the wedding. Try to take the weight off as much as possible by assisting her with these choices. This may include vetting suppliers, checking online reviews, ordering samples, visiting wedding fairs etc.
  • Other Duties:
  • Mingle with the guests
  • Keep an eye on the Bride and make sure she has everything she needs on the big day
  • Prepare a wedding emergency kit

Duties of the Best Man

The best man is the driving force behind every great wedding and does so much more than many guests will realise. In the lead up to the big day and on the day itself, you are going to be busy, but it will be worth every minute of it to see the smile on your best friends face when his bride walks down that aisle.

  • Organise the stag night. The planning of this night comes down to you and the other members of the groom’s party. You should also consult with any other guests who will be attending to ensure you are truly delivering a night that everyone will enjoy.
  • Write your speech. This is the part you will probably find the most daunting, however, it’s really not as scary as it seems and once you have delivered a heartfelt and entertaining speech you will no doubt feel as proud as punch. There’s a host of resources on the Internet that can assist you if you’re unsure what direction your speech should take.
  • Assist the groom and bride with choosing attire for the groom’s party. This will mean attending fittings, getting the rest of the groomsmen organised and ensuring the suits or tuxes are delivered safely and in good condition back to the rental shop the next day.
  • Assist the groom with any planning for relatives and friends. This may involve organising transport, accommodation or assisting elderly relatives and friends throughout the day.
  • On the day of the wedding you should:
  • Make sure you have the rings in a safe place
  • Organise the groomsmen
  • Have spare umbrellas in the boot of your car
  • Keep your eyes peeled for any behaviour that may upset the bride or groom and nip it in the bud (discreetly).
  • Escort and dance with the maid of honour
  • Take care of any envelopes or gifts and ensure they are delivered safely to the bridal suite.
  • Organise payment with any suppliers; get envelopes for each supplier from the groom in the days beforehand.

Kim & Mark’s Wedding Video Highlights!! Stradbally Co. Laois

Here at Drangan Video we take great pride  in  sharing our high quality wedding video samples on this blog page or on our facebook and twitter accounts, the following  video highlights are taken from the wedding of Kim & Mark who were married in Stradbally Co. Laois on February 6th 2016.

I suppose been of a certain vintage I harbor some lovely child hood memories of attending the annual  Stradbally Steam Engine Rally, as a 10 year I was blown away by the beautifully restored vintage machines, now in my adult  career as a wedding videographer  I am once again a regular visitor to Stradbally Co. Laois where I have shot many wedding videos.

Kim and Mark’s Wedding Video Story:
Coverage of the day begins with the bridal preps which happens to be my favorite part of any wedding video shoot, I arrived just in time to capture the  preparations which were in full swing, a wedding video production is similar  in many ways to a feature film it will have a full cast , the Bride & Groom will play  the staring role, followed by the bridal party, parents and guests.
The flower girls Lucy and Emily played a fab part in the wedding movie, proud parents  Kim & Mark had asked me to get loads of shots of the little ones, the video includes fab shots of the girls helping mammy to get dressed, some funny magic  moments of them checking  the bride’s shoes for size.

The wedding ceremony took  place in the Sacred Heart Church Stradbally, as a wedding videographer I very much appreciate the spender of this  well maintained  Co. Laois  wedding ceremony venue, an abundance of natural light combined with a very spacious interior puts it top of my list for shooting weddings in Laois.
Kim and the girls arrived in good time,  by then it was raining but the bubbly bride was walking on sunshine and was not upset by a few little rain drops.

Langton House Hotel Kilkenny :
Kim and Mark decided to travel over the border to Co. Kilkenny to celebrate their wedding reception in Langtons Hotel.

“One Fab Day”, Ireland’s most influential online wedding resource, has revealed “Langton House Hotel” among the 100 best wedding venues in Ireland, first in 2013 and again for 2014 and 2015. Langton House Hotel is one  of my favourite wedding venues in Kilkenny for the production of top quality fun wedding videos.

The ballroom in langtons is a stylist setting for any wedding reception large or small the high 20f ceilings, ornate cornicing and hand painted silk wallpaper are a sight to behold.  The  ballroom is self contained with its own  bar, access to a unique garden bar and private conservatory.
The Set Theatre is also a delightful setting for civil ceremonies and smaller wedding receptions, to add to the beauty of the set it opens out on to a  private courtyard, I simply love shooting wedding videos in Langton’s Set Theatre.
Harrys Bar is also a beautiful setting much smaller more intimate weddings, it has been recently

Harrys Bar is suitable for a smaller more intimate, civil ceremony or wedding reception. Recently refurbished the ambience created with subtle lighting and flickering candles will enhance any couples special day.

I have shot weddings in the Garden Room Restaurant in Langtons its an ideal room for small medium or large weddings, it is a naturally bright room just perfect recording vibrant high quality wedding videos. The Garden Room restaurant offers a unique experience with an ambience of sophistication and old world charm.
Thanks to Kim and Mark for been so lovely to work with and not forgetting the two little flower girls who are Dad & Mam’s pride and joy,  the video clip features a  few smashing moments with Kim Mark and the girls in the bridal sweet .  Kim and Mark were very happy to share their wedding video with  their Facebook Friends in Ireland and in other locations around the world.
