Today I am sharing highlights from the wedding of Nicolle and Simon who were married in the Sacred Heart Church Templemore Co. Tipperary in July.
As a Tipperary based wedding videographer I take great pride in sharing wedding videos that I’ve filmed in my home county, I think its true to say that “there is no place like home”
Teplemore is one of my favorite wedding locations in Tipperary, it proudly sits beneath the slopes of the Devil’s Bit mountain range, right in the centre of the Suir Valley, a prosperous and rich agricultural area, the town of Templemore is situated in north Tipperary.
July 22nd 2017 was a beautiful warm sunny day ideal for shooting a wedding film.
Nicolle and the girls were getting ready in Nenagh , I arrived at 11am to record video footage of the bridal preps before heading off to the church to cover the ceremony, I always advise brides to avail of video cover of the preparations it is a lovely beginning for a wedding day story.
Sacred Heart Church Templemore Tipperary
Sacred Heart Church Templemore is a detached gable-fronted Gothic Revival church, built 1883, carved limestone piers with metal cross finials to boundary entrance, with cast-iron railings and gates, dressed limestone walls are just some the features that makes it one of the most popular wedding ceremony locations in Tipperary.
The wedding ceremony was conducted by Fr. John Campion he is a nice easy going guy, the bride and groom were very relaxed during the mass thanks to Fr. John’s light hearted ceremony.
Templemore Town Park
After the wedding ceremony we stopped of at the Town Park in Templemore the park is a real treasure for wedding video recording it is one of those places that you would hardly know is there you could easily drive by and miss out .This park has it all a beautiful lake an impressive fountain, Nicolle and Simon enjoyed a break from their busy wedding day time table by taking a romantic stroll around the grounds, it was an ideal opportunity for gathering top quality wedding video footage.
Great National Abbey Court Hotel Nenagh
The wedding reception took place in The Abbeycourt in Nenagh which is renowned for hosting top class wedding receptions, it is situated within walking of Nenagh, Nicolle and Simon enjoyed a fantastic wedding reception Ray and all the staff pulled out all the plugs to make it a wedding to remember.

Talking to so many Brides and Grooms at the planning stage I have acquired a certain knowledge regarding the subject of planning the happiest day of your life.
Are you the bride to be who has dreaming about your wedding day since childhood ? or has the thought never crossed your mind until Mr. right came along and swept you off your feet ?
Planning your wedding should be happy a happy and exciting experience your wedding is one of the most important days of your life . Putting together a wedding planning check list and doing things step by step will help to make your wedding planning and enjoyable experience.
For those of you who have recently gotten engaged and
are in the process of planning your wedding, we hope our checklist will give you a good foundation from which to work. Planning a wedding should be an enjoyable experience, however it can in many instances become stressful and overwhelming. By using a checklist or a diary you can eliminate quite a bit of the stress that comes with the planning process.
Whether you’re getting married in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Cork or Carlow the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you and welcome any feedback you may have – think we’ve missed an important item from our list? Please get in touch and let us know!
1. Get organised
Invest in a good binder and set up a handy excel workbook to keep track of everything you need in one place. This may seem a bit excessive but trust us you’ll be glad you did!
Set a realistic budget and stick to it as closely as you can. Costs can mount quite quickly when planning a wedding so it’s in your best interests to be as firm as possible with your budget.
3. Bridal Party
Choose your bridal party and include Maid of Honour, Best Man, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, and any children you would like to include in the ceremony.
4. Set a date
Decide on the date of your wedding. Keep in mind that costs will rise when choosing a date that falls on a weekend or public holiday or significant date such as Valentines Day.
With your date set, you can now approach venues for both your ceremony and reception. Many Brides and Grooms are now opting for venues that can provide both and this is a great way to cut down on costs as well as being more convenient for you and your guests.
Once your venue is booked, it’s now time to truly get planning. Get in touch with any entertainers you wish to hear prior to making a booking. Many wedding bands and entertainers will do showcase performances where you can see them in action before making a decision.
It’s now time to contact all the vendors who are going to be providing services at your wedding, this can include:
• Wedding Videographers – that’s us!
• Transport operators
• Officiant, Priest or Registrar
• Children’s entertainment
Don’t forget to get your license organised!
Attire for the happy couple and their bridal party will need to be organised well in advance in order for any alterations to be completed. This is true whether renting or buying.
Organise accommodation for your, your guests and the bridal party. Most venues will offer a reduced rate for anyone attending the wedding and may provide complimentary accommodation for the bridal party as part of their package.
Give your guests a minimum of 3 months notice when sending invitations. This will give individuals time to organise childcare or time off work if required.
Planning a honeymoon? Keep an eye out online for some great deals during the off-peak seasons.
13. Save the date
Send save the date cards at least 5 months in advance and at least 12 months if your are celebrating your nuptials abroad.
Organise transport for the bridal party and any elderly relatives who may have difficulty reaching the venue.
Book any treatments for the bridal party and of course the mothers of the Bride and Groom.
If you are going to gift your guests with favours, we would always advise looking online for some great ideas and savings.
17. Guest list
Finalise your guest list and add all RSVP’s to your planner or database.
Speak with the venue about your menu on the day and request a tasting dinner for you and your bride or groom.
Now go and treat yourself to some beautiful wedding rings. Some of the best suppliers of wedding jewellery in Ireland can be found in our local towns and villages and many are happy to provide discounts to keep costs inline with online retailers.
20. Hen / stag
If you and your intended are having a hen/stag party, look for venues that are friendly and accommodate large groups. Stay away from family friendly venues and opt for hotels or guesthouses that offer all in one packages.
Get in touch with all your vendors and suppliers and confirm all details prior to your big day.
22. Table plan
Pay attention when designing your table plan, it’s trickier than it first seems!
Organise gifts for the bridal party and flowers for the Mother’s or Guardians at the top table.
Have all your payments ready on the day. Place each amount in an envelope and ask the best man to pass these on to vendors and request a receipt on the day.
We hope you find the above checklist useful and would love to hear from you if you’re hoping to book a wedding videographer for your big day. Whether you are based in Cork, Waterford,Tipperary or Kilkenny we will be happy to travel to your destination at no extra cost to you.
More Tipperary and Kilkenny wedding blog news soon
In this weeks blog news I am delighted to feature the wedding of Sue and Kevin, they enjoyed a fabulous wedding reception in the popular Coolbawn Quay resort in north Tipperary.
What better soundtrack for their wedding film highlights than the magical Riverdance Reprise.
Bridal Preps In Coolbawn Quay
Coolbawn Quay is one of my favorite wedding destinations in Tipperary , I have filmed many weddings during 2017 in the romantic resort the colorful backdrops surrounding the venue are ideal for creative wedding videography.
The story begins in one of beautifully restored cottages which is situated adjacent to the wedding resort, when we arrived Sue and the girls were very busy and in a pretty happy mood, the sent of hair spay was intoxicating not to mention the emotion and excitement which had brought the old cottage to historic cottage to life.
Village Of Terryglass Tipperary
After the bridal preps we headed along the eastern shortly arriving in the lovely village of Terryglass we were in seach of kevin and the groomsmen we found them in the local watering hole enjoying a couple of dutch courage drinks before saying I do !
Paddy’s Bar is a family run village pub situated close to Terryglass Harbor its an award winning pub, Kevin and boys were getting very comfortable but alas they were on call for wedding duties, it was time to head to the church before the bride arrives.
The bride arrived on time in a horse drawn carriage it was a lovely moment as the sound of horse footsteps echoed through the village of Terryglass, the sun was beaming down on the ever smiling bride, sue and her dad exchanged a kiss beside the carriage it was a lovely video moment.
Wedding Reception In Coolbawn Quay Resort
After the ceremony Sue and Kevin boarded their own yacht which was ready and waiting in Terryglass Harbour, the bridal party joined them on the 30minute cruise to Coolbawn Quay.
Sue and Kevin could not have picked a more picturesque setting than Coolbawn Quay to celebrate their wedding reception with family and friends.
Coolbawn Quay is a private destination venue where couples can exchange waterside vows followed by a drinks reception on the deck.
Sue and Kevin sailed into Coolbawn harbor in glowing sunshine they received a cheering welcome from their 150 guests who were already on the deck enjoying drinks and finger food.
It was a pleasure to have been Sue and kevin’s first choice of wedding videographer, it was a fab wedding I am already looking forward to my next wedding video in Coolbawn Quay and Terryglass.
When it comes to saying goodbye to the summer months, it’s not too difficult when we have some fabulous autumn weddings lined up! Autumn is a magical time of year when we can still enjoy the outdoors without totally wrapping up against the elements. In Ireland particularly, we can never be too sure of the weather, however, autumn seems to be one of our more stable seasons and we generally get the weather that is expected for this time of the year.
As a videographer, I absolutely love the autumn backdrop and find many likeminded Irish brides and grooms have chosen to celebrate their nuptials during this wonderful season.
This autumn we have been booked to provide wedding videography for a number of weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford as well as other counties throughout Ireland. It is with this in mind that I would like to share with you some of my favourite spots in these areas.
Wedding Videos in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford.
Kilkenny is a wonderful spot to celebrate your autumn wedding and boasts a wealth of scenic locations that are just perfect for your wedding videos and photographs. Some of the views overlooking Kilkenny Castle from Wind Gap are simply breath-taking and I can also recommend Kilkenny Castle Park itself with it’s giant oak trees a magnificent autumnal bronze at this time of year. If you’re contemplating an autumn wedding in Kilkenny have a look at the list below for some other sweet wedding videography locations that turn a magnificent umber in the autumn months:
• The Weir at Kells, Co. Kilkenny
• Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny
• The Canal Walk in Kilkenny City
This autumn, I have the pleasure of filming 3 weddings in Tipperary. Without doubt this is one of my favourite locations to shoot at this time of year and it’s absolutely perfect for those of you who wish to include the outdoors in your wedding video.
One of my personal favourite locations is at St. Patricks Well near Clonmel, an absolutely breath-taking location in the autumn months and superb as a backdrop for both wedding photographs and videos.
Some other autumn favourites in Tipperary include:
• The banks of Lough Derg, Co. Tipperary
• The grounds of Kilshane House
• Swiss Cottage, Cahir, Co. Tipperary
Waterford, the location of choice for many of our brides and grooms this year! Always a frontrunner in the most popular locations for weddings in Ireland, Waterford boasts an abundance of colour drenched scenic spots during the autumn months.
• The banks of the River Blackwater
• Backdrop of the Comeragh Mountains
• Curraghmore House and Gardens
If autumn 2017 is anything like it was last year, we can hope to see the leaves on the trees right up to the cusp of winter, giving couples up and down the country that little bit of extra colour on their wedding day.
Its hard to believe that summer 2017 is drawing to a close, Autumn is just around the corner its just amazing how quickly time moves on.
To date 2017 has been a bumper year for weddings in ireland. Here at Drangan Video we are proud to have filmed so many fun and exciting weddings in our home County of Tipperay during 2017.
Tommy and Miriam were married in Gorthnahoe on April 28th, the following highlights feature some lovely happy moments from Tommy & Miraim’s wedding film.
My day began with a visit to Tommy’s house to grab some video footage of himself and the boys, they had got their hands on the Liam McCarthy Cup for the day, the lads were pretty relaxed and enjoying a puck around on the front lawn. Tommy and his family are dedicated Tipperary hurling supporters. Up Tipp!!
I arrived at Miriam’s house at 11:30 with just two hours to go before the ceremony preparations were already in full swing. All my wedding video packages include coverage of the bridal preps, I really enjoy filming the preparations before the ceremony it adds to the art of good wedding film story telling.
The video features some sound bites from various parts of the day, at the beginning you will hear the voice Aoife the chief bridesmaid reading out the words from a card delivered to Miriam from the love of her life Tommy.
The wedding ceremony was in Gortnahoe, it is a small village in County Tipperary, located near Urlingford on the kilkenny border.
Tommy and the boys arrived at 1pm in good time for the 1:30 wedding ceremony. April 28th was a lovely sunny day the guests were happy to enjoy a chat and a get together before the ceremony, many of them headed for Prout’s pub which is conveniently situated across from the church. Miriam arrived almost on time she looked stunning, she was a very easy going bride and was taking the day in her stride, Tommy did have a tear in his eye as he laid eyes on his beautiful bride at the top of the aisle.
After the wedding ceremony we stopped off at the sports field in Gorthnahoe for a few quick photos, John Delaney is a kilkenny based wedding photographer covering weddings all over Tipperary, it was lovey working with him once again.
After a few quick photos we were on route to the Newpark Hotel Kilkenny.
The Newpark Kilkenny is one of my favorite wedding venues , it is trending high as been the first choice of wedding reception venue for Brides in Tipperary and Kilkenny.
It was a pleasure to have part of Miriam and Tomm’s big day, they have receied their wedding film are are delighted with the production. The highlights have been shared on my Drangan Video Facebook Page and has got some lovely comments. At the end of the clip the bride and a group of friends are featured singing ” The Jumbo Breakfast Roll” great fun !!
