Wedding Trends for 2019

It’s January again, that time of the year where we take a look at the trends that look set to take the wedding world by storm for the next 12 months. In this blog post we’re going to take a look at the trends for 2019, whilst also giving a nod to those old trends that looks set to continue long into the future. We’d love to hear any insights you may have, so do please feel free to comment below or get in touch with Drangan Video  via social media.

Colour Trends in 2019

2019 see the continuation of the trend for pastel colours; however, we are now looking at darker more dramatic shades. Set your sights on darks purples, pinks and blues and you can be sure that you’ll be right on trend. Silvers, golds, bronzes and metallic tones are also looking likely to top the style trends for guests and bridal parties alike!

Making the Change

We’re not quite sure if we should thank Megan Markle for this or not, but the stunning bride has set the tone for things to come with a change of dress after the wedding ceremony. Realising that cost plays a huge part in this new trend, we’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled for bridal bargains on the run up to your big day. Opt for an outfit or dress that allows you to relax and enjoy some dancing later in the evening without having to worry about or be restricted by a heavy gown.

Personalised Wedding Stationary

Never before has wedding stationary been so important! The trend now seems to be pointing more than ever to personalised wedding invites with monograms designed specifically for you both, professional calligraphy and laser cut designs. Most small towns, villages and cities in Ireland will have a number of craft professionals that will be delighted to design something bespoke for your and your intended. Plus you’re supporting a local small business, what could be better than that?

The More Intimate Experience

Whilst it appears the recession in Ireland is well and truly over (for now), Brides and Grooms have learned from the past decade of austerity and have taken stock of what is most important for their wedding day. Gone are the days of large extravagant weddings with three or four hundred guests, we now look more to the people who are most important in our lives and put them centre stage. Large weddings are great fun, but when the costs run too high it can be hard to justify any resulting debt!

Catering with a Difference

Looking for something different for your wedding? Why not look to the mobile catering trend that continues to grow throughout Ireland? More and more we are seeing Brides and Grooms employ the services of outside catering companies, burger vans, burrito bars, ice-cream vendors and mixologists! If you fancy a change from the traditional sit down dinner, have a look at some of your local mobile catering service providers for some incredible inspiration.

If you are planning a wedding in 2019 or 2020 and looking to hire the services of a professional wedding videographer, the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you. We are happy to travel anywhere in Ireland and will always work closely with you to provide you a service that will last you a lifetime.

Gifts for the Groomsmen

When planning your wedding it’s important that you set aside some time to pay tribute to those who matter to you the most. Whether that’s your parents, godparents, grandparents or close friends, it’s important that we thank them for their participation and assistance during your big day. Set some of your budget aside to purchase small gifts for your bridal and grooms party and let them know just how much you appreciate them.

Groomsmen at wedding in Kilkenny

In this blog post we are going to concentrate on gifts for the grooms party. These guys are an integral part of your big day and deserve a little something special to say thank you. Below you’ll see some unique suggestions that will make a great memento for your best man and grooms party. Remember that each member of your groom’s party will have their own interests and hobbies, so feel free to break with tradition and get each of them a different gift.

Personalised Shaving Kits:

A personalised shaving kit with an engraved case can make a wonderful gift and you can be sure that it won’t be thrown into the back of a drawer never to be seen again. Think retro with a badger-hair brush and stainless steel razor!

Tickets to an Event:

Is your best man a Metallica fan or perhaps one of your groomsmen is a fan of the theatre? Purchasing tickets to an event they will thoroughly enjoy is a wonderful gift to show them how much they mean to you.

Personalised Keepsakes:

Personalised keepsakes to remember the day make a great gift for all members of the wedding party. Monogrammed wallets, engraved key rings or cufflinks are gifts that will be used long into the future.

Engraved Hipflask:

Engraved hipflasks are a popular choice with very good reason. Perfect for a winter wedding when the grooms party may need a little warm up before the speeches.

Time Pieces with a Difference:

Consider gifting your groomsmen with a wristwatch or a pocket watch, you can be sure they’ll be delighted with such a considerate gift. Add a little something special by getting the watches engraved with the date and a short thank you message.

A Bottle of Something Special:

If your groomsmen enjoy a tipple, go out of your way to source a special bottle of aged whisky or brandy. Ireland is home to some wonderful distilleries with a huge range of special edition spirits that are sure to warm the cockles.

Keep in mind that these gifts don’t need to break the bank and it really is the thought that counts on this occasion. When you are planning your budget, set aside an amount for gifts and stick to this amount.

Final Planning for your Winter Wedding

It’s hard to believe that we are already writing about winter weddings, how the summer has flown by this year! For those of you who are tying the knot in the final months of 2018 or early 2019, we hope you find these last minute planning tips helpful.

Winter Weddings In Tipperary
It’s all about planning for the weather!

Being realistic about weather expectations during the winter months means you will never be caught short on your wedding day. Here at Drangan Video, we provide wedding videography services throughout the year and have seen a huge increase in couples getting married in the later months, particularly during the Christmas season.

Planning for winter weather conditions well in advance will give you the peace of mind you deserve on your wedding day:

For the guests:

• Umbrellas at the ready – organise a surplus of umbrellas for any guests who may not have had the foresight to bring one to the ceremony or celebrations.
• Keep your guests warm – making sure your guests are comfortable and warm at all times will make a huge difference to your day and will make your guests feel extra special.
• Offering a hot drink on arrival – when your guests arrive at your venue, consider offering hot drinks such as tea, coffee, mulled wine, Irish coffees or hot whiskeys.
• If you have an outdoor area at your venue of choice, provide your guests with warm blankets to keep the chill out.

For the bridal party:

• The bride and the bridesmaids will need to be comfortable throughout the ceremony and the celebrations, so make sure you put some though into winter-ready accessories. Faux fur shoulder capes, boleros and custom designed jackets are all good options to keep the chill out.
• Don’t forget about the groom and grooms party, keep the guys warm by providing smart overcoats and attractive scarves. Most tux rental shops will be able to offer heavier suits or coats for the winter months.
• Bring an ‘emergency’ kit for the ladies. Cold winds and the likelihood of rain will mean you need to put a bit of extra thought into this kit. Include lip balm, hand cream, moisturiser, hairspray, makeup setting spray and anything else your bridal party may need in the event of bad weather.
• Keep your legs warm – Give your legs the love they need during this long day by wearing thick tights under a long wedding dress. If your bridesmaids are also wearing long dresses, provide them with high denier tights to keep those tootsies warm.

Cover all eventualities:

When planning your winter wedding, try to plan for every possibility on the day. Provide guests with clear directions to the venue and ask them to allow extra travel time in case of extreme weather conditions. Keep the extra travel time in mind for the bridal and grooms party too as icy roads or heavy winds can easily add an extra hour to a journey.

Christmas Weddings Kilkenny

If you have a photographer and videographer booked for outdoor shots, keep in mind that this may not always be possible. Have an alternative indoor venue arranged for group shots, personal photos and videography. The great thing about a winter wedding is that you get to dress up all over again later in the year if you wish to get some shots in the sunshine.

Drangan Video provides wedding videography services 12 months of the year and is available to film weddings right across the country. Please feel free to pop over to our testimonials page where you can see a small sample of our work, should you wish to see further samples, do get in touch and we’ll be happy to give you all the information you need.

We’ll be covering more winter wedding tips over the coming months so keep an eye on the website and our Facebook page for updates.

Why we Love September Weddings

Are you and your beloved getting married this month? Hearty congratulations to you both from all at Drangan Video!

In this article we are going to talk about September weddings, why we love them so much and why September is the most popular month of the year to get married in Ireland.

Did you know that over 15% of weddings in Ireland take place in September? This early autumn month has long been a favourite of Irish brides and grooms and with very good reason:

September Weddings Tipperary and Kilkenny

• For those of you who are hoping for a bit of sunshine on your big day but don’t have a budget for a wedding in June or July, September is the perfect month to get married. Prices for weddings in September are substantially lower than June, July or August.
• From September onwards the natural colours around us change to breath stopping oranges, ambers, golds and reds. This gives you the opportunity to capture the most amazing photographs and video footage for your big day.
• There’s still some heat in the air and a good chance of sunshine in September. Whilst the calendar tells us it’s autumn, September is historically a really pleasant month here in Ireland.
• Autumnal flowers – For those of you who want something a little bit different for your floral décor or bouquets, September offers a beautiful range of colours that are not available at other times of the year. Golds, browns, yellows and bronzes along with brighter more exotic colours are all available throughout September without the additional cost associated with summer blooms. You may also have the advantage of designing your own floral bouquets by using what is available in nature during this wonderful month.
• The daylight hours are starting to shorten, but you can still enjoy the sunshine up until 7:30 pm in the earlier weeks of September. After this time the weather should still be pleasant enough for your guests to sit outside if they wish. This is a wonderful opportunity to decorate your outdoor area with candles, lanterns and atmospheric party lighting.
• September sunsets – Traditionally, the sunsets in September are breathtakingly beautiful and will make for a truly impressive backdrop for any photography or videography.
