Getting married is without doubt one the happiest days of any couples life and we love nothing more than sharing those special moments with our Brides and Grooms. This post was inspired by the many generous Irish couples we have had the pleasure of meeting over the years and for this we are most grateful. Increasingly, we are seeing that couples are now donating to Irish charities instead of opting for the traditional wedding favours for their guests. In this post we are going to list some charities that have benefitted from these donations and perhaps inspire others to consider doing something similar on their own wedding day.
Every couple we spoke to who made the decision to include a charity close to their heart in their wedding plans, said it gave them a real feeling of pleasure to know that their wedding helped a charity in need.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind
This amazing Irish charity allows couples to make a donation directly or purchase items from their online shop, which can be given to your guests as favours. Their online shop includes everything from cuddly toys and candles to Christmas baubles and calendars. You can also purchase tented cards to display on your tables – raising vital awareness and contributing to the feel-good atmosphere of your big day.
The Irish Cancer Society
The Irish Cancer Society provides invaluable support to those who have been impacted by cancer. By making a donation to this very worthwhile cause you can feel secure that your contribution will really make a difference to someone’s life. Visit their online shop and purchase a pack of 10 wedding favour cards in gold or silver for just €40 or make a donation directly to the charity.
The RNLI have been providing lifesaving services to the people of Ireland and the UK since 1824. No doubt we have all seen footage of the dangerous work they do to save the lives of others at some stage. To contribute to this wonderful charity and provide your guests with a little memento, you can visit their online shop and purchase everything from RNLI pins to pocket diaries.
The Make a Wish Foundation
The Make a Wish Foundation offer tented thank you cards for each donation of €150 that can be displayed at the tables in your venue. Alternatively you can pop over to their online shop and purchase some beautiful goodies for your guests. Choose from wrist bands, pins, cookbooks, nail files or book marks and show your guests that giving is as important as receiving on your big day.
Supporting Local Charities
Perhaps you have a local charity that is close to your heart? Why not have a chat with them about purchasing cards or favours for your wedding day? Keep in mind that not all good causes will have the means to provide you with table cards or trinkets but they will be incredibly grateful for your gift.
Here at Drangan Video we believe that every good action gets rewarded in some form and we know that by choosing to support Irish charities, many brides and grooms get a great sense of satisfaction on their big day.
