Now that the ceremony has taken place, the celebrating has been done and things are starting to get back to normality, it’s time to take some time out as a married couple and enjoy some time away. Whether you are honeymooning in Ireland, Europe or further afield, traveling can be somewhat stressful, especially when you have spent the past few months (and maybe even years) planning for your big day. Now it’s time to sit back and relax with your significant other, you both deserve that and so much more!
With this in mind, we have compiled a short list of tips that should help you to enjoy your honeymoon without any stressful planning:
Bring a couple of USB cables with you.
In days gone by, we spent the days leading up to any holiday packing necessities such as phone chargers and plug/socket adaptors. Nowadays that’s not strictly necessary! Get in touch with your accommodation organisers and ask them if there are USB sockets in the room or apartment you are staying in. Even if the TV has a USB socket you can use this to charge your phone. Who knew?
Getting the Best Deals for your Honeymoon
If you have yet to book your honeymoon and are constantly online looking for the best deals, there are a few things you should be aware of:
• Once you visit a website once, your cookies are stored by the site. This means that when you return again either later that day or a few days down the line, the website recognises that you have visited before and is therefore likely to serve you up the same price it did on your first visit. Clear your browsing history and cookies before each visit and you may just be served up with some very special offers.
• If you are logged into a specific website, you are less likely to see any last-minute special offers. Log out, clear your cookies and conduct a new search, you’ll be surprised what difference it makes!
• Try booking a flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday, when you could see savings of up to 20%.
Seeing the Sights
For those of you who just don’t have the time to meticulously make out a schedule for your trip or simply choose to go with the flow and see where the honeymoon takes you, you may be interested in a little App we love called ‘Field Trip’. This App will notify you when you are within a short distance of any landmarks or places of interest and makes a day out almost like a treasure hunt of sorts.
Avoiding the Airport Wait
There is nothing as soul destroying as waiting for hours for your baggage to appear on the carousel, when all you want to do is get out of the airport and enjoy the sun.
When checking your bag in, ask the desk attendant to stick a ‘Fragile’ sticker on the side of the bag. All bags marked fragile are placed on top of the other bags so they will always be the first off the plane and should be waiting for you on the carousel in no time!
We will have some more honeymoon tips for you in the coming weeks and would love to hear from you if you have any hacks you would like to share with our readers.
