Wedding Trends for 2019

It’s January again, that time of the year where we take a look at the trends that look set to take the wedding world by storm for the next 12 months. In this blog post we’re going to take a look at the trends for 2019, whilst also giving a nod to those old trends that looks set to continue long into the future. We’d love to hear any insights you may have, so do please feel free to comment below or get in touch with Drangan Video  via social media.

Tipperary Love Birds
Colour Trends in 2019

2019 see the continuation of the trend for pastel colours; however, we are now looking at darker more dramatic shades. Set your sights on darks purples, pinks and blues and you can be sure that you’ll be right on trend. Silvers, golds, bronzes and metallic tones are also looking likely to top the style trends for guests and bridal parties alike!

Making the Change

We’re not quite sure if we should thank Megan Markle for this or not, but the stunning bride has set the tone for things to come with a change of dress after the wedding ceremony. Realising that cost plays a huge part in this new trend, we’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled for bridal bargains on the run up to your big day. Opt for an outfit or dress that allows you to relax and enjoy some dancing later in the evening without having to worry about or be restricted by a heavy gown.

Personalised Wedding Stationary

Never before has wedding stationary been so important! The trend now seems to be pointing more than ever to personalised wedding invites with monograms designed specifically for you both, professional calligraphy and laser cut designs. Most small towns, villages and cities in Ireland will have a number of craft professionals that will be delighted to design something bespoke for your and your intended. Plus you’re supporting a local small business, what could be better than that?

The More Intimate Experience

Whilst it appears the recession in Ireland is well and truly over (for now), Brides and Grooms have learned from the past decade of austerity and have taken stock of what is most important for their wedding day. Gone are the days of large extravagant weddings with three or four hundred guests, we now look more to the people who are most important in our lives and put them centre stage. Large weddings are great fun, but when the costs run too high it can be hard to justify any resulting debt!

Catering with a Difference

Looking for something different for your wedding? Why not look to the mobile catering trend that continues to grow throughout Ireland? More and more we are seeing Brides and Grooms employ the services of outside catering companies, burger vans, burrito bars, ice-cream vendors and mixologists! If you fancy a change from the traditional sit down dinner, have a look at some of your local mobile catering service providers for some incredible inspiration.

If you are planning a wedding in 2019 or 2020 and looking to hire the services of a professional wedding videographer, the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you. We are happy to travel anywhere in Ireland and will always work closely with you to provide you a service that will last you a lifetime.

Weddings in Ireland on a Budget

Whether you’re tying the knot in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford or further afield the cost of planning a wedding can be a point of stress for many couples. At a time when you should be feeling excited and happy you may sometimes feel a little overwhelmed by the ever-mounting costs. Having spoken to many couples over the years whilst planning the approach of their wedding video, I have been lucky enough to pick up some really fabulous money saving tips, which I am going to share with you today.

Wedding planning on a budget
Choose your timing wisely

For those of you who really don’t mind what time of the week you get married, there’s a lot to be said for off-peak times. Mid-week weddings in Ireland can give you some superb savings and most venues will throw in some extras free of charge when business is quiet. By choosing a mid-week wedding date you can be assured you will make significant savings. Also, we’re seeing more and more couples opting for the months stretching from autumn to late spring when once again the costs are significantly lower. Avoiding holidays such as Valentines Day, the Christmas season and Bank Holidays will also allow you a bit more leeway with budgeting.

DIY Weddings

Think about all the things you need for the perfect wedding. Now think about how much of this you may be able to do yourself. Rope in artistic friends to work on wedding stationery design and floral decorations and consider making some homemade treats that can be used as wedding favours.

Dressing the Wedding Party

Every wedding party is unique, some will have up to 20 people at the top table, others will opt for a low-key affair with just a Best Man and Maid of Honour. This choice is entirely down to the couple. However, if you’re facing rising costs when dressing the bridal party, it may be an idea to start looking online or at high street retailers as opposed to bridal specialists. Some of our high street stores in Ireland now offer incredible value on clothing for both men and women that would like absolutely wonderful on the day. Also check out eBay and other online marketplaces for clothing, footwear and accessories.

Keep it online

Going digital with your wedding stationery can be a real cost saver when it comes to planning your wedding. We are now talking to many brides and grooms who opt to send invites via email or through social media. This option may not be for everyone but can really make a difference to your budget and really won’t have any impact on the big day itself.

Ask!

Never be afraid to ask for a discount, you can be assured that your chosen venue has more than covered their costs with the initial quote and there will be room for negotiation in some way. If the venue is unable to give you a better price then ask for extras to be included at no extra cost. Corkage, bar extension, drinks for the toast and evening nibbles may be just some of the items they may be able to accommodate you with.

Autumn Wedding In Kilkenny

October 1st 2016 was a beautiful warm sunny day in Kilkenny, one wedding guest described the beautiful spell of weather as an Indian summer.
I am delighted to be finally getting around to sharing the following  highlights from Galia and Emmet’s wedding video

Video coverage of the day began at Galia’s parents house  situated in Cellarstown, Kilkenny it is only a ten minute drive from Kilkenny city.
My style of  video recording is totally laid back and easygoing, many Kilkenny brides have commented on my  unobtrusive and hands off approach to capturing their special day, I received a nice message from Galia and Emmet saying that they are delighted with their wedding video and barely noticed the camera during the day.

The wedding ceremony took place in St. John’s Church which is situated near McDonagh Junction and Kilkenny, it is a beautiful old church with gorgeous architecture and stunning design. It has huge  ceilings and a purely peaceful, captivating beauty!  I Would recommend stopping off seeing this if you are in Kilkenny.

After the ceremony we went back to Galia’s house for the photo shoot, the house and gardens were in top class condition which was testament to weeks of hard work by a very proud Mum and Dad.

Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel

Galia and Emmet enjoyed a fab wedding reception in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel which is Kilkenny’s number one 4 star city centre wedding venue. It is located within walking distance of  Kilkenny Castle and Medieval Rothe House.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and their efficent attention to detail is one of the many positive  hallmarks The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.
