Buying an Engagement Ring Online

If you or your loved are planning to pop the question over the next few months and finding it difficult to purchase the perfect engagement ring due to the closure of local jewellers, we have a guide that will assist you in making this purchase online.

Wedding Videographer Kilkenny and Tipperary

Here at Drangan Video, we have been providing wedding videography services across Tipperary, Kilkenny and just about every other county in Ireland for over 25 years. We know how important it is for our couples to celebrate in style and that starts with the all-important engagement ring. Regardless of your budget, you will find that online jewellers can offer a true wealth of choice during a time when you can’t go and browse in the traditional manner. Here are our tips for the safe purchase of your ring online.

Buying  Engagement Rings Online

Check the Security of the Website:

All websites that sell items or services online are now required to display an SSL certificate. You can check this by simply looking at the website address. If the website begins with HTTPS then you have a secure site. If it begins with the old format of HTTP then there is no security cert in place on the website.

Conduct Reputation Research:

As always, when shopping online it’s always important to ensure you are dealing with a reputable seller, this is never more important than when you’re making one of the most important purchases of your life.
• Check independent online reviews. Look through social media accounts related to the seller, check their online reviews and look for any red flags with regards to late delivery, quality or sizing.
• Check out the certification of the online store. You will want to know that any diamonds are ethically sourced and that best trading practices are adhered to.
• Make sure the store has in-depth contact details such as business address, contact phone number and email address. If the contact page does not have these details and features only a contact form, we would recommend trying another website.

Read the Small Print:

Whilst it may be a tedious job, you will really need to read through their terms and conditions to ensure you are covered in all instances. In instances where you are purchasing a custom design or a ‘made to order’ engagement ring, you may not be able to avail of EU purchasing rights, so ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable before making a purchase.

Ask for Samples of their Work:

Whilst you may not be able to see the ring itself before you purchase, you can ask the seller to send you photographs and videos of sample products. Videos will give you a much better idea; so don’t be afraid to request them from your online store.

Make your Payment with Debit or Credit Card Only:

All major credit card and debit card providers will offer you great levels of protection on purchases made online. They also allow you to have an easily traceable line of purchase if you ever need to raise a dispute or request a refund. Do NOT pay by online transfer or with bank drafts/postal orders. Check your online statement and transactions as soon as payment has been made to ensure everything is in order.

 Wedding Videographer Kilkenny and Tipperary

In this blog post we are going to stray somewhat from our normal wedding themed blog posts and use our experience as wedding videographers in Kilkenny and Tipperary to share with you some walks you can take during your daily exercise. Remember that you can only take these walks if they are no further than 2km from your home and always strictly follow government guidelines.

Videographer Kilkenny

Over the past 25 years, the team here at Drangan Video have been blessed to capture hundreds of weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny. This experience has given us a real in-depth knowledge of the local area and the wonderful walks and trails that can be found in both rural and urban settings.

 Short Walks in Kilkenny

Jenkinstown Walk – A Coillte Amenity.

Situated just outside Kilkenny city centre is the walled garden loop of Jenkinstown walk. According to the Coillte website, their parks and woodlands remain open for pedestrians only and all car parks are closed. This measure has been taken to ensure citizens who live within 2km of the amenity can use the facility while adhering to current guidelines. Take a stroll through this wonderful trail and let your worries drift away. The greenery, flora and fauna that is in abundance in this wonderful setting makes this the perfect place for your daily walk.

Tory Hill, Mullinavat

When you are partaking in individual exercise over the next few weeks, we can wholly recommend Tory Hill for its breath-taking scenery and woodland tracks. The views from the top of Tory Hill will clear the head and offer superb photography opportunities.

 Short Walks in Tipperary

Dun Ui Faoiain Loop

The Dun Ui Faolain Loop is another wonderful Coillte amenity that can be enjoyed when undertaking your individual exercise or with children from your household in this fabulous weather. Please do note that all car parks at Coillte amenities are closed, so only take this walk if it is within 2kms of your home. The loop walk in Dun Ui Faolain takes you through Glenbawn Wood, along the banks of the Suir and is an easy stroll for those who may not be acclimatised to regular exercise.

Glengarra

Another wonderful Coillte site situated ion the banks of the Burncourt River. Enjoy the incredible selection of specimen trees that include Monterey Cypress, Giant Sequoia and Bhutan Pine.

Planning your Honeymoon in Ireland

Here at Drangan Video we are seeing more and more brides and grooms opting to honeymoon at home, and why not? This wonderful country of ours has so much to offer at all times of the year, and whilst our weather may be on the unpredictable side, the midlands and coastline always remain just as luscious and romantic.

If you’re thinking of staying at home to honeymoon after your wedding in 2017 or 2018, check out our very own personal favourite destinations below. We’d love to hear from any of our readers who have recently honeymooned or holidayed at home with suggestions of hidden gems.

Ring Of Kerry
Connemara

The wilds of Connemara are dotted with romantic retreats perfect for an idyllic Irish honeymoon. Stroll around the town of Clifden or venture into the wilds. With lakeside walks, undiscovered beaches, luxurious hotels and scenery that is absolutely unmatched elsewhere you really couldn’t ask for anything more.

West Cork

West Cork offers peace, tranquillity, epic scenery, sandy beaches, picturesque villages, artisan delights and cuisine that will make your mouth water! This wonderful part of Cork County is home to some of the world’s most enviable landscapes and is a welcoming getaway at any time of the year. Whether you decide to rent a cottage or stay in a luxurious hotel, West Cork will ensure your honeymoon memories are extra special.

Powerscourt Gardens Wicklow
Kerry

There’s no doubt in my mind, that the county of Kerry can offer just as much as any foreign destination. Dingle, Killarney and Tralee are all within driving distance of each other and the towns and villages dotted in between will ensure you are never left wanting. As a honeymoon destination, Kerry has become extremely popular with our foreign visitors, so why not for us natives? Spend time exploring the lakes, walking the national park or cuddling up in front of a warm fire with a local speciality.

Dublin County and Surrounds

Whilst Dublin may not be on the very top of your list as a honeymoon destination, you should remember that there is more to the county than just a busy city. Also, Dublin County is great as a base in which to travel into the city or to other counties nearby such as Wicklow and Kildare. If you want to get out and about during your honeymoon, we can highly recommend trips to Newgrange, Powerscourt, Kildare Village, Lough Tay and Glendalough.

Samuel Beckett Bridge Dublin
County Donegal

What more could you ask for than a county covered in woodlands, with magnificent coastline and people that are as friendly as you are likely to meet? Donegal has made this list of Irish honeymoon destinations because of it’s timeless beauty and welcoming natives. A windswept coastline with a host of top class destination hotels for you to choose from. For those of you who wish to stay in an Irish speaking area, you really couldn’t ask for anything more!

As you plan your honeymoon in Ireland, keep an eye on midweek packages, which provide fantastic value for money throughout the year. Honeymooning in Ireland need not be expensive if you plan in advance and take advantage of special offers that you will find at all times of the year.

Tipperary Couple Valerie And Kevin Say Yes

In this week’s blog post I am delighted to sharing  yet another wedding video  from my home county of Tipperary.
Valerie and Kevin celebrated their wedding in Two-Mile-Borris, it is  a small tidy village in County Tipperary located  on the outskirts Thurles town.

February 18th was a lovely day lots of spring sunshine and not a rain drop in sight.
After setting up my main camera and microphones in the church I quickly made my way to Valerie’s house to grab some of the pre wedding excitement.  Aileen Kennedy was the wedding photographer for the day,  Aileen and myself have lost count of the number of weddings that we have covered around Thurles, Cashel, Clonmel and all overTipperary, she is a top class photographer and a pleasure to work with.
Valerie and her Bridal team were enjoying the build up to the main event, the sun was beaming through the windows spring was in the air and the girls had  a spring in their step.
Fr. George Burke conducted a lovely personal and  easy going ceremony with some light hearted comments thrown in helping  to relax the slightly nervous couple.
