Over the past 25 years we have seen many changes on the Irish wedding scene. Video technology has come on leaps and bounds, which means we can offer a service that is non-intrusive and discreet while delivering superior footage from every angle. We have also seen many changes in the way weddings are now celebrated across the country, from church weddings to humanist outdoor ceremonies, the world is now your oyster when it comes to getting married in Ireland, and the great news is, Kilkenny provides an incredible range of choices for couples of all beliefs and none.

 Wedding Video Supplier Kilkenny

When we first started providing wedding videography services in Kilkenny and every other county across Ireland, we found that wedding videos were never quite as important to the bride and groom as photography was. This has now flipped on its head and we see videography and photography working side-by-side at most wedding celebrations. In some cases, photography has now taken a back seat to wedding videography with guests providing the bride and groom with the images they have taken on the day via social media and image sharing apps.

Another significant change we have seen for our Kilkenny weddings is the trend towards longer advance bookings. Most couples that come to us, upon first contact are at least one year out from the date of their wedding. In the past, we were no strangers to receiving bookings in the final months before a wedding, but this has all changed now, leaving the bride and groom with ample time to plan every aspect of the big day.

Your Wedding Day Checklist

The big day has finally arrived and all those months of planning are going to pay dividend today! It’s an exciting time and making the most of today and enjoying every moment should be your top priority. It may seem a little late in the day to be writing checklists but if you have this on hand on the morning of the wedding, you can be assured that everything else will fall into place. Most of this list will seem obvious at first glance, but you’d be surprised what can slip your mind when you’re about to embark on the happiest day of your life.

Wedding Day Checklist
For the Bride:

Wedding Dress – This should go without saying, but have your wedding dressed pressed, steamed and ready to wear in the days leading up to your Wedding Day. Hang your dress in a place where it is safe and out of reach from little hands.

Headpieces – If you are wearing a veil or a floral headpiece, double check you have all the necessary clips and pins to secure it in place for your big day. Store in a safe area that is free from damp and curious eyes!

Perfume – Choose a perfume that is precious to you, a scent that will forever remind you of your big day. A scent can bring back a thousand memories and you will want to ensure you have a spritz or two of your favourite perfume before you leave for the ceremony.

Old, new, borrowed, blue – If you’re a traditionalist and want to follow the old, new, borrowed and blue custom, make sure you have all 4 in place at least the night before the ceremony.

Bouquet and Flowers – Make sure you have all of the flowers that were ordered. If you have arranged delivery to your home on the morning of the wedding, ask one of your bridesmaids to double check that everything has arrived before the delivery person leaves.

Shoes – Yes, it’s unlikely that you would forget your shoes, but have you remembered to polish them and make sure there are no scuffmarks? This should be done the night before the wedding and your shoes stored in a box overnight to keep them in ship-shape.

Accessories – Gather together all of the accessories you will need to wear on your big day. This will include your tie, cufflinks, watch, belt, tie clip and suspenders if you have chosen to wear them. Ask your best man to check that all of the groomsmen have done the same and you can relax in the knowledge that you have everything covered!

Boutonnieres – When your boutonnieres are delivered in the morning, do a thorough check to ensure no one has been left out. You’ll need one for each of the grooms party, your parents and other close family that will be sitting at the top table – and of course yourself.

Cologne – Have you chosen a cologne to wear on the day, does your bride to be have a favourite scent? Make sure you have your cologne on hand for a quick spritz before you leave for the venue and ask your Best Man to bring it to the venue for you so you can have a fresh spritz a little later.

What to do after you get Engaged

At this time of the year we take great pleasure in speaking with newly engaged couples who received proposals over the festive period. It’s such an exciting time for our Brides and Grooms to be! In this article we are going to talk about the very first things you need to do as a newly engaged couple to assist with the wedding planning process.

Wedding Planning Tips

1. Share and celebrate
First and foremost you should be sharing your good news with your very closest friends and family. Take some time out to celebrate before you get stuck into the planning process and enjoy this happy time.

2. Save and save some more
If you haven’t already started saving for your big day, now is the time to do so. We would highly recommend opening a credit union account in your locality and commit to putting away a little bit every week. If you decide to go with a traditional bank account, look for a bank that offers little or no fees on your savings.

3. Sizing of your ring
There’s a good chance that unless you’ve gone shopping together for a ring, you may need to make adjustments to the size. Visit a reputable jeweller, preferably the same outlet in which the ring was purchased and ask them for advice and assistance with the sizing of your ring. While you’re here, you should also have your ring appraised and request a certificate of value to include in your home insurance.

4. Decide on your bridal party
There’s no time like the present when it comes to deciding on who will be part of your big day. Take the time to discuss choices with your partner and agree on the individuals you would like to include in your bridal and grooms party. You may opt for a Maid of Honour and one bridesmaid or a large group of great friends and family, the choice is entirely yours!

5. Get a handle on numbers
Before you start looking at venues, it’s a good idea to have an idea of the numbers that will be attending the wedding, reception and evening party. There’s no need to make a detailed guest list at this early stage but a rough idea of the attendance numbers will greatly help when searching for a venue.

6. It’s time to start looking at venues
This is one of the stages that our couples enjoy most! Take the time to read online reviews and reach out to other couples that have celebrated in the venues you are considering. Arrange meetings with the wedding coordinators at your top 4 or 5 preferred venues and don’t be afraid to negotiate! Remember, weekday weddings greatly reduce all the costs associated with your big day.

7. Choose your vendors
Now that you have your venue booked (for the ceremony and the reception), it’s time to start approaching vendors for quotes. Florists, car rental, entertainment, photographers and videographers should all have a number of packages they can offer to suit every budget.

8. Don’t forget the dress!
Shopping for your dress, bridesmaid’s dresses, suits and tuxedos can be incorporated into a fun day out for both parties. Take your time and enjoy the time spent choosing the outfit of your choice.
