Recent Weddings in County Tipperary

Here at Drangan Video, we have had the pleasure of filming some of the most spectacular weddings recently in County Tipperary. In this blog post we are going to speak about the two venues we visited and give you a flavour of what you can expect if you decide to book your wedding in one of these wonderful venues.

Wedding Videography Tipperary
Ashley Park House, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary

Our first trip was to the amazing Ashley Park House, a luxury wedding venue located in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. This incredible 18th century country house hotel is nestled in 76 acres of breath-taking woodland and overlooks the scenic Lough Ourna.

The bride and groom chose this venue for it’s opulence and natural surroundings and we have to say we were absolutely blown away by the location. The event organisation staff left no stone unturned when it came to organising the perfect day!

On this occasion, the bride and groom opted for a civil ceremony on the grounds of the hotel, and this offered some fantastic opportunities for a wedding video with a difference.

When we first met with our bride and groom in 2017, we spoke to the couple about our documentary style approach to wedding videography. We specialise in discreet filming, meaning we don’t set up posed scenes or disturb the natural flow of the big day in any way. They were delighted with our professional approach and put their trust in us to deliver a wedding video that would capture the most important moments of their big day (and everything in between).

For any couples out there who may be considering The Ashley Park House for their wedding venue, we can wholeheartedly recommend it! We’ve been in this business for well over a decade and rarely come across a venue that is so professional, well organised, welcoming and luxurious.

Coolbawn Quay, Tipperary

Coolbawn Quay is a private village resort situated in northern Tipperary on the shores of Lough Derg. This unique venue offers cottages, rooms and suites scattered throughout the village with a hotel service provided for each guest.

We provided a full wedding video service for our wonderful bride and groom and have to admit we were mesmerised by the location, service and the natural layout of the village. The resulting wedding video captured all aspects of the big day and we made sure to include some of the wonderfully scenic backdrops in the resort to add that something special.

The bride and groom exchanged their vows in a civil ceremony at the waterfront under the lakeshore canopy and were blessed to have incredible weather, which further enhanced the happiness on the day.

For any budding brides and grooms out there who may be considering Coolbawn Quay as a venue for their wedding ceremony or reception, we would urge you to make that booking fast as we’d imagine this place gets booked up fast!

Videography and Drone Footage for your Wedding

The majority of Irish  couples  are hiring  a videographer  to film  their  wedding day  in order to relive those special  memories over and over for the rest of their lives.
Drones are becoming more and more popular at weddings, improvements in aerial video technology have reached new levels in picture quality, camera size and flight control.
Here at Drangan Video we offer  drone videography with all our wedding packages this  helps us  to go above and beyond and greatly enhance  our standard wedding films

Drone wedding videographer in Kilkenny

In this blog post we would like to introduce you to one of the very latest trends in wedding videography – drone footage.

Drone videography is a trend that has developed enormously over the last 5 years in Ireland. No longer just a hobby, the development of state of the art drones and onboard cameras and videos now mean drone footage can make a huge statement on your big day.

What is a Drone?

A drone is a remotely controlled unmanned aircraft. For the purposes of capturing your big day from the sky, our state of the art drones use onboard cameras that allow us to deliver incredible footage of your wedding from a perspective that will take your breath away.

Approved Drone Pilot:

Our approved drone pilot is registered on the ASSET drone registry, which is a national database of approved drone pilots operating in Ireland. This register is regulated by the IAA (Irish Aviation Authority). Since 2015, all drones over 1kg or any drone regardless of size that flies over 15m above the ground or water, must be registered with the IAA.

Expert Drone Pilot:

Drangan Video work with http://hiddengemmemories.com to deliver the most professional drone wedding videography available on the Irish market today.

Benefits of Drone Videography for your Wedding:

• Fantastic group footage: Whilst your guests are mingling after the ceremony, it’s nigh on impossible to get them all together for some video footage. With our onboard drone cameras we can capture the scene from above, meaning no one is left out of the picture.
• You and your loved one have gone to a lot of trouble to book the perfect venue, wouldn’t you like that captured on video to remember for the rest of your life? All to often, couples spend months visiting venues in order to choose the perfect location, but how often does that venue get featured in all it’s glory in the wedding video? With our drone, we can capture the venue from above, so you can remember just why you chose this special place.
• Location shots: If you are lucky enough to be getting married in a scenic spot, we will work with you to develop a plan to capture all of the most scenic locations on your wedding day.
• Impress your guests: As drone wedding videography is a relatively new wedding service in Ireland, you can be assured that our service will surprise and delight your guests. A great icebreaker and talking point that will ease your guests into the celebrations of the day.

Overcoming the Nerves before your Wedding Speech

In this wedding blog post we are offering some tips and advice on overcoming the nerves before your Wedding Speech, here at Drangan Video we have attended  our fair share of weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny and many other counties up and down the country, so its fair to say that we have heard  more wedding speeches than than your average Joe.
In 2013 our beautiful daughter celebrated her wedding in Langton House Hotel in Kilkenny it was a day that my wife and myself will never forget, we were looking forward to the day for so long, one of my father of the bride duties was to stand up and deliver a speech, it was an honor to stand up and talk. Traditionally, the first  speaker at an  Irish wedding is indeed the Father of the Bride, was I nervous ?  the answer is yes !!

Wedding blog news Tipperary Weddings

Delivering a speech is never an easy task, particularly if you’re not comfortable with public speaking. In this blog post we are going to explore some tips that we believe will ease your nerves and assist with the preparations. Whether you’re delivering a speech as the Best Man, the Bride, Groom or Parent, these tips will help you to remain calm, cover all the important points and leave your audience feeling all warm and fuzzy!

Most wedding speeches will be highly anticipated by all guests at the wedding, so it’s important that you put real time and effort into delivering a speech that covers all of the most important points.

Writing the Wedding Speech

Always speak aloud before you start writing! This may seem a bit strange, but once you have spoken the words out loud, you begin to formulate other ideas in a way that flows more naturally. This practice will also assist with calming any nerves you may be experiencing.

Practice your Breathing

Really? Yes, breathing comes naturally we know that, but keeping your breathing relaxed and steady during the delivery of your speech, will allow you to remain calm and speak without stuttering or getting panicked.

Ask a Friend to be your Ears

Enlist the help of a good friend to sit and listen to your speech. Choose someone who isn’t afraid to give you honest feedback, someone who will boost your confidence and give you the encouragement you need.

Make Note Cards

It’s not always necessary to write down your speech word for word, you will want to sound natural on the day and perhaps adlib a bit from time to time. Word cards with bullet points that will steer you in the right direction will work wonders. Here are some of the points you can list on your notes:

• Who to thank
• Names of everyone at the top table
• Pointers
• ‘ Tell the story about……’

Avoid too much Alcohol or Caffeine before the Speech

As tempting as it may be to indulge in some dutch courage before the speeches, it’s probably a better idea to wait until the speech has been delivered before you partake of any alcohol. Try to steer clear from too much caffeine as well, as this can bring on feelings of anxiety if you’re already feeling a little nervous.

Be Assured you are Surrounded by Friends

If you start to feel a bit anxious or nervous, know that you are surrounded by friends and family that know and love you. They don’t mind if you stumble on your words a bit or seem a bit nervous. Remember that you have probably spoken to everyone in this room already at some stage, so there are no strangers here or people that judge you.

Nerves are Good

Nerves are there to remind us that we are doing something important. Surely that’s a good thing right? All you need to do is take that first leap and the rest of the speech will follow with ease. The adrenalin you get from that first round of applause or shriek of laughter will leave you feeling full of confidence.

Practice, Practice, Practice

This should go without saying, but you would be surprised at the amount of people who don’t take this advice. Practice will help you to deliver a polished speech with ease and clarity, the more you practice, the more accomplished your delivery will become.

Ciarán and Hillary’s Wedding in Lismore Waterford

Ciarán and Hillary celebrated their wedding ceremony in St. Carthage’s Cathedral Lismore Co.Waterford, the historic cathedral is situated  on a commanding position overlooking the magnificent Lismore Castle. The  wonderful old cathedral in the heart of Lismore is still in operation today  no modern or fancy frills  in this church, just an amazing step back in time, it is one of my favorite wedding ceremony venues.

Hillary must have had a feeling  of stepping back in time when she entered the cathedral and walked up the aisle to join Ciarán,  they were both entering another chapter in the history of their lives as Mr. and Mrs. Keating.

Over the years we are fortunate to have provided wedding videography services  for countless happy couples throughout Waterford, Tipperary, Kilkenny and up and down length and breath of Ireland.  We have already  filmed weddings in all the prime locations, they are all special in their own particular way  but none can match  beautiful Lismore in Waterford, needles to say we were thrilled when Hillary and Ciarán said yes to Drangan Video  as their preferred choice of videographer.

Hillary arrived  on time for the 1pm wedding ceremony in St. Carthages’s Cathedral, she looked radiant as she walked up the long aisle with her proud Dad,  the  Autumn sunlight was casting a  welcoming light through the huge stained glass windows.
After the ceremony  the bridal party stopped off at Lismore Castle for some photos, we also got loads of great  video footage.

Wedding planning tips for your wedding in Kilkenny

For those of you who have recently gotten engaged and
are in the process of planning your wedding, we hope our checklist will give you a good foundation from which to work. Planning a wedding should be an enjoyable experience, however it can in many instances become stressful and overwhelming. By using a checklist or a diary you can eliminate quite a bit of the stress that comes with the planning process.

Whether you’re getting married in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Cork or Carlow  the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you and welcome any feedback you may have – think we’ve missed an important item from our list? Please get in touch and let us know!

1. Get organised
Invest in a good binder and set up a handy excel workbook to keep track of everything you need in one place. This may seem a bit excessive but trust us you’ll be glad you did!

2. Budget
Set a realistic budget and stick to it as closely as you can. Costs can mount quite quickly when planning a wedding so it’s in your best interests to be as firm as possible with your budget.

3. Bridal Party
Choose your bridal party and include Maid of Honour, Best Man, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, and any children you would like to include in the ceremony.

4. Set a date
Decide on the date of your wedding. Keep in mind that costs will rise when choosing a date that falls on a weekend or public holiday or significant date such as Valentines Day.

5. Venues
With your date set, you can now approach venues for both your ceremony and reception. Many Brides and Grooms are now opting for venues that can provide both and this is a great way to cut down on costs as well as being more convenient for you and your guests.

6. Entertainment
Once your venue is booked, it’s now time to truly get planning. Get in touch with any entertainers you wish to hear prior to making a booking. Many wedding bands and entertainers will do showcase performances where you can see them in action before making a decision.

7. Vendors
It’s now time to contact all the vendors who are going to be providing services at your wedding, this can include:
• Wedding Videographers – that’s us!
• Photographers
• Transport operators
• Caterers
• Florists
• Beauticians
• Baker
• Officiant, Priest or Registrar
• Children’s entertainment

Planning advice for your wedding in Tipperary

8. License
Don’t forget to get your license organised!

9. Clothing
Attire for the happy couple and their bridal party will need to be organised well in advance in order for any alterations to be completed. This is true whether renting or buying.

10. Accommodation
Organise accommodation for your, your guests and the bridal party. Most venues will offer a reduced rate for anyone attending the wedding and may provide complimentary accommodation for the bridal party as part of their package.

11. Invites
Give your guests a minimum of 3 months notice when sending invitations. This will give individuals time to organise childcare or time off work if required.

12. Honeymoon
Planning a honeymoon? Keep an eye out online for some great deals during the off-peak seasons.

13. Save the date
Send save the date cards at least 5 months in advance and at least 12 months if your are celebrating your nuptials abroad.

14. Transport
Organise transport for the bridal party and any elderly relatives who may have difficulty reaching the venue.

15. Beauty
Book any treatments for the bridal party and of course the mothers of the Bride and Groom.

16. Favours
If you are going to gift your guests with favours, we would always advise looking online for some great ideas and savings.
17. Guest list
Finalise your guest list and add all RSVP’s to your planner or database.
18. Menu
Speak with the venue about your menu on the day and request a tasting dinner for you and your bride or groom.

19. Rings
Now go and treat yourself to some beautiful wedding rings. Some of the best suppliers of wedding jewellery in Ireland can be found in our local towns and villages and many are happy to provide discounts to keep costs inline with online retailers.

20. Hen / stag
If you and your intended are having a hen/stag party, look for venues that are friendly and accommodate large groups. Stay away from family friendly venues and opt for hotels or guesthouses that offer all in one packages.

21. Confirmations
Get in touch with all your vendors and suppliers and confirm all details prior to your big day.

22. Table plan
Pay attention when designing your table plan, it’s trickier than it first seems!

23. Gifts
Organise gifts for the bridal party and flowers for the Mother’s or Guardians at the top table.

24. Payments
Have all your payments ready on the day. Place each amount in an envelope and ask the best man to pass these on to vendors and request a receipt on the day.
