Wedding Trends for 2018

With 2017 now firmly behind us and a whole new year of exciting wedding videography ahead of us, the team here at Drangan Video have been taking a look at the wedding trends that are set to make a huge impact here in Ireland. In this blog post we are going to take a look at what’s hot in 2018 and hopefully give you some inspiration for your very own big day.

Wedding Trends Ireland 2018

Remember, if you’re looking for a wedding video with a difference, Drangan Video will be only delighted to travel to your chosen destination, whether you’re getting married in Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny or Tipperary. Give us a call at any time and ask for Eamon, who will always be happy to help in any way he can.

• Bringing the outside in
2018 is all about celebrating nature and bringing the outside in on your big day. Experts are saying that this trend is great for those who have an active lifestyle and want to share their love of the outdoors with their guests. This trend will mean hiring potted plants or growing your own on the lead up to the big day, and will be sure to bring something special to the occasion.

• Pastels are out!
Over the past number of years we have seen brides revert to pastel colours for their bridal bouquets, however all that is set to change in 2018. Think plums, deep reds and burgundy’s, these darker more moody colours will make a big visual impact.

• Dance floors with a difference
Couples are opting for dance floors that make a statement at their venue of choice, think marble, think illuminated, think disco!

• Surprise your guests with edible stationery
Yes you heard us right, edible stationery is now a thing. This trend surfaced in the US over the past few years and has now made its way to Irish shores.

• Dessert Tables
Rather than serving the dessert to your guests in the traditional manner, consider setting up a dessert table with all of the unique sweet treats that are now on offer. Doughnuts, freak shakes, macaroons, ice-creams and puddings will have your guests feeling like royalty.

• Copper
Copper is the go to colour of 2018 and you can be assured that this trend will be making its way to Ireland over the coming months. Accessorising your centrepieces or table settings with copper elements will give an impression that is hard to beat.

• Pearls
Did they ever really go out of fashion?? Pearls are set to make a huge comeback on the 2018 bridal scene and we can understand why. There’s nothing quite as elegant as freshwater pearls, however there are cheaper alternatives that look just as good. Use them in your bouquet, jewellery, headpiece or on your table décor for that touch of elegance.

Fab Spring Wedding In Ballincollig Cork

The main advantage of been  a Tipperary based wedding videographer is  location, I am only one hour from  amazing wedding locations in Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Carlow. Its lovely to sit into my car after a long wedding shoot knowing that I will be home within the hour.
March 31st 2016 was a beautiful sunny day  spring was in the air, I was on my way to Ballincollig to film the wedding of Catherine and Paul, the following video clip are the highlights from their wedding video.

The locals who live in Ballincollig will refer to it as ” The Village” even though it would be classed as a town  this is a way of saying that they have retained their identity, folks in Ballincollig are very proud of their roots.  It is not known as tourist town but it has allot to offer for instance the Regional Park is one of the largest Industrial Sites in Ireland.
When I arrived at Catherine’s parents house, the bridal preps were in full swing the girls were in a pretty relaxed mood, the bride was just about ready to get in to her dress, the big moment had finally arrived all the wedding planning was now history this is the day when the next history chapter commences.

The wedding Ceremony took place in St. Mary’s and St. Johns Church Ballincollig just a 10 minute drive for Catherine and her proud dad, that journey to the church is a very special and memorable time between a father and daughter, last journey with her dad as a single lady.
The Church of St Mary and St John is situated on Station road it  is the older of the two churchs in Ballincollig, it is a lovely setting for a wedding with lots of natural light coming through the large windows and loads of space for invisible wedding video recording.

Catherine and Paul enjoyed their big day, they are a lovely couple and were so easy to work with on the day, Paul is from Waterford and proud of his roots and a keen follower of all things GAA, he was hoping for an  all Ireland victory for the Deise sadly he will have to wail and see what next  next has to offer.

Wedding Video Highlights Cork

Beautiful Scenic Wedding Video Locations In Cork

Here at Drangan Video, we have had a very busy summer and whilst the weather has been somewhat disappointing at times it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of our excited brides and grooms.

This summer has seen us spend time travelling the length and breadth of the country providing videography services for weddings in Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Dublin, Galway and Kerry to name but a few. So it’s hard to believe that we’re now facing into the latter half of the year and making plans for Christmas and New Year weddings already, where has the year gone!

Late last year we met with a number of couples who wed this summer in Cork, and asked our advice on the best places for wedding videos and photographs in the Cork region. We were extremely happy to oblige as we are very familiar with Cork County and City and have filmed many events and weddings there over the years. So for those of you who are planning a wedding in Cork and need some ideas for great locations to shoot a special wedding video, we hope you find this useful.

Happy Cork Couple: Jason And Tracey’s Wedding Video Highlights

The Cork village of Shangarry  is situated on the south coast of Ireland and is best known as home of the world famious Ballymaloe  Cookery School,  happy local  couple Tracey & Jason certainly had something cooking for family and friends at the near by Middleton Park Hotel to celebrate their wedding reception

As a busy wedding videographer I have the pleasure of recording weddings in many parts of Ireland  especially throughout Munster, at the moment weddings in Cork are at an all time high, my wedding video bookings are very steady in and around Cork City and County.

Tracey and Jason’s Wedding Video Highlights :

As I made my way to Tracey’s house for the bridal preps cloulds were gathering and a spattering of rain was imminent, but after all it is still only February  the summer is just around the corner.  On arrival at the house I received a great warm cork welcome with tea and a bite to eat on offer. Tracey and her bridesmaids were having fun and really enjoying the preparations,  this is one happy bride who was intent on enjoying her big day hail, rain or shine.

After a lovely wedding ceremony in Shanagarry Church  we made our way to Middleton Park Hotel by which time the rain cloulds had vanised and the sun was shining, Tracey had booked me for the Gold Package which covers from bridal preps up and including the first dance. The Middleton Park Hotel is a popular Cork wedding venue, the staff are more than helpful, and very efficient.

Tracey and Jason are very happy with their wedding DVD, the highlights have already been shared on my Drangan Video Facebook page and has received some nice comments.  In the next few chapters we take a look at the importance of a well shot Wedding Video.

The importance of a well shot wedding video

Traditionally, wedding photographs have always been a must have for the budding bride and groom, however, here at Drangan Video we have seen a huge surge over the last decade in wedding videography. Of course, we would never suggest that photographs should make way for video, we believe there is a special place for both services at everyones wedding. What we love about a well-shot wedding video is that is remains a keepsake for all time and for generations into the future. A professional wedding video will see you through the good times and the hard times and can be viewed at times when you truly need a lift and a smile.

On a romantic and perhaps sentimental note, video can capture so much more than still photography. One of the shots best captured on video for all time and becoming increasingly more popular is ‘the first look’. This is a shot taken from the bride’s point of view when she is walking down the aisle, the video captures the moments when the organ starts to play and the bride and her companion take their first steps down the aisle. The climax of this shot is when the groom turns around and sees his beautiful bride for the very first time – a moment that can now be treasured forever thanks to high quality, professional videography.

As already stated, video will capture an amazing event, full of emotion and happiness, with family and friends. Such a event with everyone gathered may not happen again in your lifetime. Some may be missed as it is watched in later years, and the video can be an endearing memory and record of your shared time. With a great wedding video you will always remember each of your guests! What what other medium allows you to put a soundtrack of your choosing to such an emotive and energetic montage.

Feel free to give us a call here at Drangan Video or get in touch with us via our very sociable Facebook page. We are always on have to provide expert advice on why a well-shot wedding video is most important to your big day.

Lastly and most importantly I would like to add a little something. After the wedding day has passed and you venture into your life together, years after the kids are already starting secondary school, college or kindergarten, when money worries, stress and exhaustion get you down, pull out your wedding video and the reminder of that day will hold you in good feeling. You will for sure shed tears of joy and sadness, you will feel you have come a long way since that day, you will think back and wonder where the time go to? You will remember each other with reckless abandon as a song you haven’t danced to in years will play on the morning radio, your hearts will beat faster and your feet will find the dance-floor…… you really cant get the same feeling from a photograph!

Happy Fun Wedding Video In Cork

The following wedding video clip is from the wedding of a Tipperary couple who celebrated their wedding ceremony in The Sacred Heart Church Mogeely, Co. Cork. The wedding

Brides In Tipperary

reception was in the very famous Castlemartyr Hotel and Spay Resort  which is one the leading wedding reception venues in Cork, it is obvious that David & Sanet had a fantastic day, just have a look at this highlights clip from their wedding DVD.

The fun filled wedding video began in the Castlemartyr Hotel with Sanet and the girls preparing for the big day, I love shooting video in this hotel it’s  a class leading  wedding reception venue and I have recorded weddings during 2013  for many Tipperary Brides who decided to choose  this Magical Cork wedding Venue for their wedding day celebrations.  The very famous Pat Shortt’s Bar is only a short walk from the hotel and it is the usually frequented by the hotel wedding guests while waiting for their wedding dinner, what better way to pass a couple of hours.   There is no better way to finish off the afternoon than to have some fresh seafood or drinks at Pat Shortt’s bar. All the produce is sourced locally and the fish delivered daily from the boats at Ballycotton harbour. Even the  traditional musicians are local except once a year during the popular Kiltha River Trad Fest , which is held in the village every August weekend.

After finishing gathering footage with the girls, I quickly made my way to Mogeely Church to catch David and the boys arriving, the  guests were greeted at the church with a lively selection of popular music provided by a local DJ  he had set up on the lawn by the side of the church and the music rang out all over the sleepy easygoing village of Mogeely, this was just one of David and Sanet’s  ideas which made their day so exciting and different from the many mainstream weddings that I record. I remember when David & Sanet called to me to discuss their wedding video they did say that they were going to have loads of fun on the day and that their guests would enjoy a wedding to remember, it was one  of the most enjoyable weddings that I have covered in recent times so fair play to this amazing tipperary bride & groom.

The Castlemartyr  Resort did not disappoint on quality of service it is well deserving of its 5 star rating.   It is not only the elegant 18th century manor house and the 13th century castle ruins that make Castlemartyr stand out from the crowd, but the meticulous attention to detail that their  experienced team of wedding planners provide. Nestled in 220 acres of mature landscape, the manor house is indeed the heart of this unique resort, having been restored and extended to offer perfectly styled accommodation, an award-winning Restaurant, a Spa and Leisure Centre, as well as an 18 hole inland links-style Golf course, it is no surprise that so many Brides In Tipperary are prepared to travel to this wonderfull venue to celebrate their special day.  Castlemartyr Resort is also an HSE registered venue for Civil Ceremonies and is the perfect location to celebrate your Civil Partnership.

It was a pleasure working with David & Sanet they are a really happy couple, their day was fun filled one of the many highlights was a helicopter tour for the Bride & Groom of the Castlemartyr area and brilliant sunshine to go with it, after the speeches we were invited on to the huge lawn at the rear of the hotel for a magical fire works display arranged by David as a surprise it was a perfect romantic finish to what was a 5 star wedding celebration.

David & Sanet  also run a very successful wedding Post Box service for weddings in Tipperary and all over Munster, the Post Box is a unique idea for your special day, guests clutching valuable envelopes and without an obvious place  to drop them, can often feel uneasy while waiting to catch the attention of the Best Man, ushers or even the Bride & Groom.  They can be contacted on Facebook or by the contact numbers below.
