Here at Drangan Video in Tipperary and Kilkenny, we have been providing wedding videography services to Ireland’s most loved-up couples for almost 25 years. Due to our somewhat unpredictable climate, planning for the weather is an absolute ‘must’ when it comes to preparing for your Irish wedding. Getting married in June or July does not guarantee sunshine as we all know, and you could end up with blue skies and high temperatures in November when the winds blow in the right direction. In this blog post, we are going to look at some tips that you can keep in mind when planning your big day. Remember though, that no matter what the weather, your day is going to be a day to remember, rain, sunshine, snow or ice won’t make a jot of difference when you say ‘I do’ to the one you love!

Umbrellas for guests:
Pre-pack umbrellas into family and friends cars in the days leading up to your big day. Choose playful colours, pastels or quirky designs to add a splash of colour to your day. Whether the umbrellas are used to ward off the rain or to protect your guests from the sunshine, you can be assured they’ll be appreciated by all who use them. Perhaps consider getting the umbrellas personalised with a monogram, these make great wedding favours and mementos for your guests and you can be guaranteed they’ll be used again!
Blankets and throws:
A lovely touch for the evening of your wedding when guests tend to wander outdoors, consider providing some throws and blankets to ward off the cool night air. If you’re having an outdoor or marquee wedding, these little touches will make all the difference for guests of all ages.

Sunscreen:
If it looks like it’s going to be a sunny day, consider leaving some sunscreen in the ladies and gents restrooms as part of a toiletries hamper. If you have children attending your wedding celebrations, you can be assured that their parents will welcome this little touch to keep the kiddies sunburn free for the day.

Have a plan B:
If you are planning an outdoor wedding, it’s imperative that you have a plan B for your big day. Speak with your wedding venue and vendors in advance to put a plan in place for a rainy day event. Ask your venue to have an indoor area available and ready for your guests in the event of rain. With one or two days to go until the wedding you should have a clearer idea of the forecast and can start putting plans in motion.

Warm/cool your guests with a welcome drink:
Whether you’re looking at soaring temperatures or romantic snow, a welcoming drink for your guests upon arrival can make all the difference. A winter wedding paired with mulled wine is a real treat for the senses and can help your guests warm up, relax and get ready for the celebrations. During the summer months you can opt to serve cooling cocktails and juices. It’s the little touches that make a big difference!

Drangan Video Tipperary and Kilkenny

In this article, we’re going to tell you a bit about what makes Drangan Video so special and why we believe brides and grooms choose us to capture every moment of their big day.

Since our inception in 1995, we have seen huge changes in the world of wedding videography, particularly in the technology we use and the trend towards a more subtle approach to filming your wedding. Drangan Video have adapted to and in many cases, led these changes in approach and style.

One of the best compliments we can get from any bride or groom is ‘We didn’t even know you were there’! This tells us that we have done our job correctly. Our hands-off approach means we never interfere with the running of your day and film from the sidelines without ever infringing on the celebrations. We also work extremely well with photographers, recognizing that they are limited by time and circumstance and don’t want a videographer disrupting their work in any way. We let the photographer take centre stage, never infringing on their space.

Our approach to wedding videography can be described as ‘documentary style’ and we strive to capture every moment of your day in a way that is natural, discrete and free from interruption. This approach allows us to take footage that may otherwise be overlooked – a loving glance between father and bride or special moments between those who know you best. This results in a true documentation of your wedding, allowing you to see the little things that would normally go unnoticed.

Another reason brides and grooms choose us for their wedding videography is our central location. Based in Co. Tipperary, our central location allows us to offer wedding videography in every county in Ireland. We don’t charge extra for distance travelled and always get to know the venue and area before the big day.
One of the newest additions to our wedding video offering is drone videography and photography. Our state of the art drone allows us to capture unique footage of your big day from a perspective that is absolutely breathtaking. Picture our aerial footage of your home or venue along with the guests arriving to the wedding ceremony. We are truly blessed in Ireland to enjoy such wonderful landscapes and scenery and there’s no reason why this incredible backdrop shouldn’t be featured on your beautifully crafted wedding video.

Last Minute Tips for your Summer Wedding

Are you getting married this summer? Well first of all let us wish you a hearty congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! In this article we are going to go through some last minute tips and checks that will ensure everything runs smoothly on your big day.

Summer Weddings Kilkenny

At the moment, it looks like the forecast ahead is pretty positive, temperatures are on the up and we’re finally starting to see some of that sunshine that evaded us for most of May and June. With that in mind, you may want to see some of our last minute tips that will ensure you and your guests remain cool, comfortable and relaxed for the duration of the ceremony and celebrations.

Extra Boutonnieres

You know those lovely button hole flowers that the bridal party wear for the day? If you are expecting soaring temperatures on the day of the wedding, then it may be a good idea to ask your florist to prepare extra to cover heat damage and withering.

Outdoor Area

If you have not already done so, it’s a good idea to contact your venue and ask them if they can provide some outdoor space for your wedding party. Whether that’s a dedicated marquee area for you and your guests or a section of the garden where guests can enjoy some fresh air in the warm evening.

Welcome Drinks

There is absolutely no doubt that your guests would be delighted to be welcomed with a cool, refreshing drink upon arrival at your venue. Ask the hotel/caterers or venue to provide a range of iced juices and fruit for the arrival of your guests.

Goodies Hamper

Whilst you may have already prepared hampers for the ladies and men’s rooms in your venues, it may be worth adding the following to your list to ensure everyone remains comfortable for the duration of the day:

1. Deodorant
2. Flip-flops
3. Face wipes
4. Insect repellent
5. SPF 50
6. Sunglasses
7. Fans

Parasols

If you are hoping to spend a lot of time outdoors on your big day, it is essential that you make your guests as comfortable as possible. Ask the venue to provide you with any large parasols they have onsite or bring your own decorated with ribbons, bows and fairy lights to add something extra special. These parasols will provide shelter from the sun when it’s at its highest and will provide some welcome shade for all ages.

Wedding Ceremony Options in Kilkenny and Tipperary

Ireland has changed significantly over the past decade and here at Drangan Video we believe this is something to be celebrated! Gone are the days when your only option for a wedding was the church or the registry office, the choices available today mean that all loved up couples in Kilkenny, Tipperary and all over Ireland can now get married in the venue of their choice.

wedding Video Kilkenny

In this wedding blog post, we are going to explore some of the many ceremony options available in Ireland today and discuss how they differ from one another.

Interfaith Ceremonies:
Interfaith ceremonies are marriages between two people of different religions. Depending on the religion, you may be permitted to marry in a religious ceremony that encapsulates both of your faiths, alternatively, inter faith marriages can be performed in a registry office or as a civil ceremony.
Civil Ceremonies:
A civil ceremony in Ireland can take place in any venue that is registered with the H.S.E. Civil ceremonies are non-religious and are legally binding once performed by a registrar on H.S.E. registered grounds.

Catholic Ceremonies:
For many decades, religious ceremonies in Ireland were the only option for couples that wished to tie the knot. That said, Catholic ceremonies are still a popular choice for many couples who have a strong faith and wish to profess their commitment to each other through in their local church or cathedral. Catholic church wedding ceremonies are performed by a priest and are legally binding.

Humanist Ceremonies:
Humanist ceremonies are on the increase in Ireland, with many couples opting for a non-religious, non-faith ceremony. Your wedding should be officiated by a ‘HAI’ certified celebrant – you’ll find a list on the Humanist Association of Ireland website. Humanist weddings are legally binding and are the perfect way to celebrate your big day if you are all faiths or none!

Alternative Ceremonies:
An alternative or independent ceremony is a non-legally binding ceremony that celebrates the coming together of a couple in a unique way. Venues do not need to be registered with the H.S.E., so you can even get married in your back garden if you like! Note that to have your marriage legally recognised, you will need to complete the necessary paperwork.

Wedding Ceremony Locations Ireland

Over the past 25 years, Drangan Video has seen the landscape of weddings change in Ireland. These changes have all been incredibly positive and we are now seeing couples marry in a way that makes them truly happy. In 2019 Ireland, there are no rules, you can marry in a venue of your choosing, you can marry the person you truly love, you can write your own vows, design your ceremony from start to finish, there are no restriction on you as a couple. This positive shift means more of our citizens feel included and for that we are truly grateful.
