Questions to ask your Wedding Videographer

When you’re searching for the perfect wedding videographer, it’s always important that you ask specific questions to ensure you’re getting exactly what you want for your big day. In this article we’re going to look at the questions that we find benefit our brides and grooms most and give our own answer to each question. Here at Drangan Video, we provide a professional wedding videography service with in-house editing and are available for weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Limerick  and nationwide.

Question 1: What is the videographers style?

The team at Drangan Video offer a number of different styles to suit your dream wedding video. We find that most of our couples prefer a documentary/natural filming approach here we capture the moments of your day as the actually occur. This means that we don’t intrude upon your day or get in the way of your guests, and the resulting video is a true representation of your wedding day. A documentary style wedding video means we won’t stage any shots, we’ll just quietly work away in the background while you enjoy the celebrations.

Question 2: Does the Videographer have experience?

Having confidence in your wedding videographer is really the most important part of making your choice. Whilst we all know someone who is good with a camera, your wedding video should really only be shot by someone who has years of experience and can work professionally at every moment of the day. Drangan Video have provided wedding videography services to hundreds of brides and grooms right across Ireland. We know where we need to be and when and you can be assured that we will never miss a moment of your big day.

Question 3: Does the Videographer book more than one Wedding a day?

The simple answer to this question in NO. Even if we have a request for one wedding in the morning and another in the late afternoon, we will never book more than one wedding video a day. Our focus is on you and your intended for as long as you need us and we can promise you that you have our full attention.

Question 4: Does the Videographer Outsource the Editing?

Drangan Video does not outsource any editing and has invested heavily in an editing suite to ensure we have full control over the quality of your wedding video. Outsourcing editing can lead to long delays and we know that simply isn’t an option for our brides and grooms.

Question 5: What Equipment does the Videographer use?

Using the very latest in videography equipment, hardware and software, the team here at Drangan will be utilising state of the art cameras and sound equipment when filming your wedding. No expense has been spared to ensure you are presented with the most beautiful wedding video!

Wedding Trends for 2019

It’s January again, that time of the year where we take a look at the trends that look set to take the wedding world by storm for the next 12 months. In this blog post we’re going to take a look at the trends for 2019, whilst also giving a nod to those old trends that looks set to continue long into the future. We’d love to hear any insights you may have, so do please feel free to comment below or get in touch with Drangan Video  via social media.

Tipperary Love Birds
Colour Trends in 2019

2019 see the continuation of the trend for pastel colours; however, we are now looking at darker more dramatic shades. Set your sights on darks purples, pinks and blues and you can be sure that you’ll be right on trend. Silvers, golds, bronzes and metallic tones are also looking likely to top the style trends for guests and bridal parties alike!

Making the Change

We’re not quite sure if we should thank Megan Markle for this or not, but the stunning bride has set the tone for things to come with a change of dress after the wedding ceremony. Realising that cost plays a huge part in this new trend, we’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled for bridal bargains on the run up to your big day. Opt for an outfit or dress that allows you to relax and enjoy some dancing later in the evening without having to worry about or be restricted by a heavy gown.

Personalised Wedding Stationary

Never before has wedding stationary been so important! The trend now seems to be pointing more than ever to personalised wedding invites with monograms designed specifically for you both, professional calligraphy and laser cut designs. Most small towns, villages and cities in Ireland will have a number of craft professionals that will be delighted to design something bespoke for your and your intended. Plus you’re supporting a local small business, what could be better than that?

The More Intimate Experience

Whilst it appears the recession in Ireland is well and truly over (for now), Brides and Grooms have learned from the past decade of austerity and have taken stock of what is most important for their wedding day. Gone are the days of large extravagant weddings with three or four hundred guests, we now look more to the people who are most important in our lives and put them centre stage. Large weddings are great fun, but when the costs run too high it can be hard to justify any resulting debt!

Catering with a Difference

Looking for something different for your wedding? Why not look to the mobile catering trend that continues to grow throughout Ireland? More and more we are seeing Brides and Grooms employ the services of outside catering companies, burger vans, burrito bars, ice-cream vendors and mixologists! If you fancy a change from the traditional sit down dinner, have a look at some of your local mobile catering service providers for some incredible inspiration.

If you are planning a wedding in 2019 or 2020 and looking to hire the services of a professional wedding videographer, the team here at Drangan Video would love to hear from you. We are happy to travel anywhere in Ireland and will always work closely with you to provide you a service that will last you a lifetime.

Documentary Wedding Videographer  Kilkenny
What is documentary style wedding videography?

Documentary style is best described as ‘natural’ videography. There are no posed shots, no direction from the videography team, and no interruptions to your big day. We simply become invisible to you and your guests and capture the moments of your celebration in a very natural way. Discreet, documentary style videography tells the story of your day exactly how it happened!

Benefits of discreet, non-directed wedding videography

There are many benefits to this style of wedding videography, these include but are not limited to:

• Total discretion – we never interfere in proceedings and make sure that our presence is almost unnoticeable to your guests.
• No posed shots – this means we will never take you away from the natural flow of the day. We hang back and take the natural footage that presents itself during this important day.
• No direction from our team – you won’t hear any of the Drangan team giving directions to the bridal party or guests. They won’t even know we’re in the room!
• We let you tell your story to the camera – we blend into the background and capture the story of your day as it unfolds naturally.
• Authenticity – Our documentary style and discreet presence adds to the authenticity of your wedding video. When the guests are unaware of our presence, they become relaxed and act naturally in front of our discreetly positioned cameras.
• Emotions captured as they happen – real emotions, un-staged smiles and a true reflection of how you and your guests are feeling throughout the day.
• More focus on the little things – sometimes the little things can make all the difference to your big day. We pick up on the moments that can sometimes go unnoticed, interactions between relatives who haven’t seen each other in a while, a smile from the corner of the room, a child sleeping in the corner – it’s these little moments that make our style so special.
• Less intrusive than traditional videography – our discreet, hands-off approach to capturing the moments in your day mean there is no intrusion to the celebrations.

Final Planning for your Winter Wedding

It’s hard to believe that we are already writing about winter weddings, how the summer has flown by this year! For those of you who are tying the knot in the final months of 2018 or early 2019, we hope you find these last minute planning tips helpful.

Winter Weddings In Tipperary
It’s all about planning for the weather!

Being realistic about weather expectations during the winter months means you will never be caught short on your wedding day. Here at Drangan Video, we provide wedding videography services throughout the year and have seen a huge increase in couples getting married in the later months, particularly during the Christmas season.

Planning for winter weather conditions well in advance will give you the peace of mind you deserve on your wedding day:

For the guests:

• Umbrellas at the ready – organise a surplus of umbrellas for any guests who may not have had the foresight to bring one to the ceremony or celebrations.
• Keep your guests warm – making sure your guests are comfortable and warm at all times will make a huge difference to your day and will make your guests feel extra special.
• Offering a hot drink on arrival – when your guests arrive at your venue, consider offering hot drinks such as tea, coffee, mulled wine, Irish coffees or hot whiskeys.
• If you have an outdoor area at your venue of choice, provide your guests with warm blankets to keep the chill out.

For the bridal party:

• The bride and the bridesmaids will need to be comfortable throughout the ceremony and the celebrations, so make sure you put some though into winter-ready accessories. Faux fur shoulder capes, boleros and custom designed jackets are all good options to keep the chill out.
• Don’t forget about the groom and grooms party, keep the guys warm by providing smart overcoats and attractive scarves. Most tux rental shops will be able to offer heavier suits or coats for the winter months.
• Bring an ‘emergency’ kit for the ladies. Cold winds and the likelihood of rain will mean you need to put a bit of extra thought into this kit. Include lip balm, hand cream, moisturiser, hairspray, makeup setting spray and anything else your bridal party may need in the event of bad weather.
• Keep your legs warm – Give your legs the love they need during this long day by wearing thick tights under a long wedding dress. If your bridesmaids are also wearing long dresses, provide them with high denier tights to keep those tootsies warm.

Cover all eventualities:

When planning your winter wedding, try to plan for every possibility on the day. Provide guests with clear directions to the venue and ask them to allow extra travel time in case of extreme weather conditions. Keep the extra travel time in mind for the bridal and grooms party too as icy roads or heavy winds can easily add an extra hour to a journey.

If you have a photographer and videographer booked for outdoor shots, keep in mind that this may not always be possible. Have an alternative indoor venue arranged for group shots, personal photos and videography. The great thing about a winter wedding is that you get to dress up all over again later in the year if you wish to get some shots in the sunshine.

Drangan Video provides wedding videography services 12 months of the year and is available to film weddings right across the country. Please feel free to pop over to our testimonials page where you can see a small sample of our work, should you wish to see further samples, do get in touch and we’ll be happy to give you all the information you need.

We’ll be covering more winter wedding tips over the coming months so keep an eye on the website and our Facebook page for updates.

Making your Wedding Reception an Outstanding Success

When  planning your wedding reception, it’s always important to focus on your guests and how much they will enjoy the celebrations. In this blog post we are going to look at some sure-fire tips that will ensure your wedding reception will be remembered for all the right reasons.

A thoughtful seating plan
One of the very first steps in planning your celebration will be to put in place a seating plan that will make guests feel comfortable and relaxed. Whilst this may seem like a quick and easy task, it is one of the most important aspects of the reception so set aside some quality time to really get it right for all your guests.

Seat guests with those who are likeminded and who know each other well. Whilst you may be tempted to seat strangers together because you ‘think’ they’ll get on well, it’s best to ensure guests feel comfortable from the very first moment they take their seat. Well-planned seating arrangements can make a huge difference to the atmosphere on the day and you will want each and every one of your guests to feel relaxed and in good spirits with people they know.

Cater for the kiddies
If you have children attending your wedding celebrations, please take the time to ensure their needs are catered for. Provide sweet treats, entertainment and a designated area for the kids to enjoy themselves in. Perhaps have a babysitter onsite to look after the younger children; this will allow the parents the freedom to celebrate in style without having to worry about the kids for the evening.

A first dance with a difference
Guests love nothing more than a well planned first dance routine and this trend looks set to continue into the future. If you and your intended are the adventurous type, why not put together a dance routine that will wow and include your guests in the action.

It is important to remember that a traditional first dance can be just as impressive so don’t ever feel pressured into doing something that may be outside your comfort zone. It is YOUR first dance after all.

Surprise entertainment
We have seen a huge surge in surprise entertainment provided at Irish wedding receptions over the past few years, and we have to admit this always goes down a treat with the guests. Whether you opt for operatic waiting staff, a dance display or an expert magician, these little touches will certainly make your big day one to remember.

Choosing your wedding band
The live entertainment is probably the most important part of ensuring a celebratory atmosphere at your wedding reception. When researching bands, we would highly recommend that you see them perform live if you have the opportunity. Some wedding bands will be happy to ask you to see them perform at another wedding (with the permission of the bride and groom of course) before you make that all important decision. Ask your band for wedding video clips of other weddings, speak with them about their set list and their ability to read a crowd and always seek out testimonials and recommendations. A good band will make a difference to the ambience in the room but a GREAT band will have your guests dancing all night and truly enjoying themselves.
