Wedding Trends for 2018

With 2017 now firmly behind us and a whole new year of exciting wedding videography ahead of us, the team here at Drangan Video have been taking a look at the wedding trends that are set to make a huge impact here in Ireland. In this blog post we are going to take a look at what’s hot in 2018 and hopefully give you some inspiration for your very own big day.

Wedding Trends Ireland 2018

Remember, if you’re looking for a wedding video with a difference, Drangan Video will be only delighted to travel to your chosen destination, whether you’re getting married in Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny or Tipperary. Give us a call at any time and ask for Eamon, who will always be happy to help in any way he can.

• Bringing the outside in
2018 is all about celebrating nature and bringing the outside in on your big day. Experts are saying that this trend is great for those who have an active lifestyle and want to share their love of the outdoors with their guests. This trend will mean hiring potted plants or growing your own on the lead up to the big day, and will be sure to bring something special to the occasion.

• Pastels are out!
Over the past number of years we have seen brides revert to pastel colours for their bridal bouquets, however all that is set to change in 2018. Think plums, deep reds and burgundy’s, these darker more moody colours will make a big visual impact.

• Dance floors with a difference
Couples are opting for dance floors that make a statement at their venue of choice, think marble, think illuminated, think disco!

• Surprise your guests with edible stationery
Yes you heard us right, edible stationery is now a thing. This trend surfaced in the US over the past few years and has now made its way to Irish shores.

• Dessert Tables
Rather than serving the dessert to your guests in the traditional manner, consider setting up a dessert table with all of the unique sweet treats that are now on offer. Doughnuts, freak shakes, macaroons, ice-creams and puddings will have your guests feeling like royalty.

• Copper
Copper is the go to colour of 2018 and you can be assured that this trend will be making its way to Ireland over the coming months. Accessorising your centrepieces or table settings with copper elements will give an impression that is hard to beat.

• Pearls
Did they ever really go out of fashion?? Pearls are set to make a huge comeback on the 2018 bridal scene and we can understand why. There’s nothing quite as elegant as freshwater pearls, however there are cheaper alternatives that look just as good. Use them in your bouquet, jewellery, headpiece or on your table décor for that touch of elegance.

Here at Drangan Video we are blessed many times a year with the opportunity to travel to Waterford to film couples as they make their vows to one another. This year has been no different; in fact we have had more trips so far this year than all of 2016. Waterford is a wonderful city, situated in a breathtakingly beautiful county with so much to offer to couples from all walks of life.

Are you planning on getting married in Waterford over the next couple of years? Would you like some advice on some of the most scenic locations, venues and activities? Look no further then! In this article I am going to talk about some of the county and cities most scenic locations, which will be just perfect for your wedding photos or wedding video shoot.

Getting Married in Waterford City

For those of you who are planning to celebrate your nuptials in Waterford City, we have a host of locations for you to choose from. These locations are perfect for wedding videos or photographic shoots.

The Peoples Park

The Peoples Park in Waterford City is one of the most perfect locations for your wedding photos or video shots. This wonderfully designed park allows you to step away from the city without having to venture too far from you guests or venue. As a backdrop the park contains an eye-catching bandstand, a water fountain, hectares of green lawn and beautiful flowers, an unusual orbital monument and an old iron bridge, which gives access to the courthouse. Well worth a trip – weather permitting!

Reginalds Tower

Reginalds Tower, situated in the heart of the city, is an ideal backdrop for wedding photos and wedding videos with a difference. Should you wish to have photographs taken inside or on the roof, please ensure you have organised this in advance and obtained any permissions required.

Getting Married in Waterford County.
If you’re planning a trip to the countryside on your wedding day, you are in for a real treat. Take a look at some of the locations listed below and know that wherever you choose you can be assured of a warm welcome and the most wonderful scenery.

Scenic wedding locations Waterford
Tramore Beach

One of my very favourite spots to film a bride and groom! If you’re lucky with the weather and fancy being a little adventurous, you really can’t go wrong with a trip to the beach to capture the magic of your big day!

Waterford Copper Coast

We’ll stay on the coast for this one. As well as Tramore, Waterford offers a whole coastline of wonderful inlets and bays, which make spectacular backdrops for wedding videos and photos. Maybe take a trip in advance and shortlist a few locations, which might suit you?

Woodstock House and Gardens

Filled with beautiful natural arched walkways and expertly landscaped gardens, Woodstock is one of Waterford’s hidden gems. Definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area and a wonderful place to capture some of the moments of your wedding day.

I could write this article for days, there are so many options for scenic videos and photos in Waterford, for now I’ll stop here and allow you to visit these fabulous locations to make up your own minds. If you are planning a wedding in Waterford city or county and would like to capture your big day on video, please do get in touch with myself (Eamon) here at Drangan Video and I will work tirelessly to ensure you are delighted with the results.

Wedding Video Waterford

This following clip is the highlight montage from a Waterford Wedding

which I had the pleasure of recording for Helen Carey & Stephen McCarthy.

Ballylaneen is a small village in County Waterford, Ireland, approximately halfway between the villages of Kilmacthomas and Bunmahon on a hill by the River Mahon.   St Anne’s Church is the main focal point of the village, it is a very old Church but it provides a lovely homely and intimate setting for a Traditional Wedding Ceremony and it is a popular choice of Wedding Ceremony by  Brides In Munster.  Helen & Stephen had their Wedding Reception in The Tower Hotel.  Situated in the heart of Ireland’s oldest city, The Tower Hotel Waterford is renowned for hosting Weddings In Waterford  for over fifty years.

It was lovely working with Helen & Stephen on their big day, they have requested having this Wedding Highlight Clip shared online with all their friends.  Sharing on Facebook is included with all Drangan Video Wedding Packages and Helen & Stephen were more than happy to avail of this.   The Wedding Photograper for the day was Kaie Kavanagh it was a real  pleasure working with her,  her style is easy going and very creative she is always up for a joke and a laugh which dose help to make everyone feel relaxed, looking forward to recording more Wedding DVDS In Waterford with her  in the near future.

This is a lovely text which I received from Helen complimenting me on a job well done.  Hi Eamon. We’ve just watched our DVD & we are just astounded at the entire production of it. There wasn’t one cringe moment in it for us & the quality & professionalism really stand out. But the non intrusion on our day is just mystifying considering how every moment was aptly captured. Thank you so much for everything & we are very happy for it to be shared on Facebook.

The Photo Shoot took place in the grounds of Waterford Castle which was a nice opportunity to grab some Cool Video Footage which is featured on this Video Clip.

The Woodlands Hotel Waterford was the setting for this Waterford Wedding Reception. I like this Waterford Hotel it is an affordable Munster Wedding Venue offering a high standard of professional  service.

It was lovely working with Aine & Barry they are a friendly down to earth couple and also thanks to them for their sweet comments on Facebook  Thanks Guys 🙂
