In this week’s wedding blog I am delighted and proud to be sharing the wedding of Susan Tannock who is from Australia and Chris Bracken from Littleton, Thurles who were marring in Holy Cross Abbey Tipperary on December 30th 2017, the happy couple enjoyed a splendid wedding reception in the ever popular Anner Hotel. The town of Thurles is the home of the GAA and has hosted many big match days in Semple Stadium but none more important as Chris and Susan’s love match.
Here in Tipperary and Kilkenny more and more couples are opting for off season weddings , Winter can be a romantic time of year with fairy lights and the excitement of Christmas in the air.
when planning a summer wedding you are feeling confident about the weather but let’s not forget it is Ireland after all. In winter, although its certain that there will be no heat, or sun at least you know what to expect and won’t get caught out.
Chris and Susan’s Winter Fairytale Wedding
The Anner Hotel is situated just outside Thurles on the Two-Mile Borris road, resting on its own private grounds with tastefully kept gardens and pathways. Over the years the four star hotel has increased in size offering a host of modern amenities, it is now one of the top wedding venues catering for Tipperary and Kilkenny wedding receptions. Chris and Susan’s wedding video story began at 10:30 in the hotel wedding suite with coverage of the bridal preps. December 30th was a very cold day a rather big shock for the Aussies who were leaving their sunny warm summer behind, the pressure of preparations did help to keep temperatures rising for the girls.

Holy Cross Abbey wast the couple’s choice of wedding ceremony location, the beautifully restored Monastic site and Church from the 12th century looked stunning in the low angled December sunshine. The Abbey is a working church it is a popular location for wedding ceremonies it is steeped in history if those walls could only speak of times gone by ? the aisle has a natural slope towards the altar to help you tie the knot!
Susan her Dad and the girls arrived on time in a beautifully restored VW camper Van, the rumble of the German engineered engine was certainly a step back in time for the older guests, there is something special about a colorful wedding camper van, a couple of quick photos of Susan and her Dad then it was time to begin the long walk up the aisle to take Chris’s hand in matrimony .
The church was lovely and warm due to the recently installed underfloor heating providing a welcome break from a biting winter chill.

Susan and Chris were a lovey couple to work with they were so relaxed and easygoing, they have already shared the highlights video on facebook it has been receiving glowing reviews on our Drangan Video page.
