Reasons for having a wedding videographer

Hi all, thanks for dropping by and taking time out to read this weeks Drangan Video blog post. As you can see from the heading  today’s post is all about wedding videography,  with the current restrictions on guests  allowed to attend weddings, it makes great sense to consider hiring a wedding videographer

Here at Drangan Video we fully  understand that  wedding planning has taken a back seat  due to the uncertainty about social gatherings however this post can get you thinking about your big day and whether wedding videography is something you and your partner might consider!

Wedding speech captured by Kilkenny wedding videographer

Your Photographer will  capture still images which are  moments frozen in time, but video allows you to enjoy every part of your wedding day presented as a feature film.
As a busy wedding videographer  attending numerous  weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Limerick, Waterford and Dublin  I  can safely tell you that your wedding day will go by in a flash. Just think about the huge build up  to the day, all the hours of planning and dreaming abut the biggest day in your life,  don’t miss out on having it captured on video you can relive it time and time again when viewing  your wedding film.

Audio Memories

A wedding videographer we will capture the full day  allowing you to relive your wedding vows again, share them with future children  or family who couldn’t be present on your wedding day. A videographer will also capture  your reception  recording the speeches and all the kind words  and comments that you’ll listen to and cherish for the rest of your lfe

Video captures the emotional moments

Our job as wedding videographers is  to document the full day with a view to capturing those special  emotional moments between family, friends and guests.  We often get feedback  from  couple’s saying how surprised they were to see certain parts of the day on video, saying they didn’t realize we had been there at that particular time.  There is so much happening on a wedding day it would be easy to miss something, especially when you are the star of the show, its normal  get caught up in the day and maybe missing out on special moments, your  videographer will be there to film not only you but your guests and all the emotional and fun moments.

Wedding videographer Tipperary and Kilkenny

Wedding videography  is sometimes described  as an unnecessary extra  added cost to an already tight wedding budget, obviously as a wedding videographer I don’t  agree.  Yes for sure weddings are very expensive and you could find yourself running over your budget.
If you are in the early stages of wedding planning for your wedding in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford or Cork  I would recommend  to seriously considering   budgeting for  videography services. There are certainly other important costs  to prioritize, but if you can find the room in your budget, definitely consider having your wedding day captured by a professional wedding videographer.

Fab Wedding Video Langton House Hotel Kilkenny

One of the perks of been a wedding videographer in Kilkenny is the large choice of wedding venues that the city has to offer, all of them are top class locations and most are situated in kilkenny city.
In this weeks Drangan Video blog post we are featuring the wedding of Pam and Sean Dando who were married in Langtons Hotel  they were one of the lucky Irish couples to get married before the covid lock-down in March 2020.

Langton House Hotel Kilkenny

Langtons  provide a state of the art  wedding service  and have been listed as the top  rated Wedding Venue in Leinster, Langton House Hotel has acquired numerous  awards in many different areas of hospitality. The central  location allows  guests  access to  river walks, Kilkenny Castle, Rothe House, St Canice’s Cathedral,  and all the high street shops that the Marbel City has to offer.

Sean and Pam’s Wedding Video Story

The story begins with Pam and her bridal party getting ready in Pam’s parents house in lower Conahy Kilkenny best known in local GAA circles as the home of the famous Conahy Shamrocks hurling club. It was a brave move for me as a Tipperary supporter making  my way over the county border to record another Kilkenny wedding.
Pam’s bridal preps look great on video, lots of special moments with Pam her Mum & Dad and not forgetting the star of the film little flower girl Isla, who was not in no way camera shy, Pam’s mum lending a hand with the wedding dress is one of my favorite highlights from the morning preps.

Wedding Ceremony In Langtons  Set Theatre

The hotel  has so much to offer for a memorable wedding day exsperience  the vibrant  colors combined with  expensive  décor are the perfect  setting  for a wedding day to remember.
Sean and his Groomsmen arrived with time to spare for the 2:30pm ceremony in the wonderful Set Theatre in Langtons, it was an opportunity to capture video footage of the pe ceremony preparations including family shots with Sean and his family. The ceremony was discreetly captured with two video cameras the full ceremony was included in the final video edit.

Should We Have A Big Or Small Wedding

Here at Drangan Video we are all set for a return next week to shooting wedding videos in Tipperary Kilkenny and up and down the country, cameras and equipment have been checked out making sure that batteries and sound recording equipment are in perfect condition for our busy Autumn wedding  schedule.
We have been chatting with lots  couples over the past six weeks regarding wedding planning post covid lockdown, the question of should we have a big or small wedding is a popular topic.

Kilkenny Bride

Should  we have a big or small wedding

When married couples  hear  that a friend  has popped the question and are are in the process of wedding planning  they smile knowingly about all the hard work that is ahead of them. Planning  a wedding is very exciting  but very hard work, just deciding  on the dress you have to think about whether you want the most modern  design or a more traditional wedding dress,  and then  the big question are you going to splash out on a big wedding  or a smaller  more personal celebration with families and very close friends.

Small weddings work well  because you’ll have  more time with  family and friends  you won’t have to greet 250 guests outside the church door which can take an hour from your day,  instead you can mingle with individual  guests at different times during the day at the reception venue. This is worth thinking  about because having   guests are why you wanted to have a wedding in the first place  you wanted  to share the most important day in your life with the people you love. But If you want to invite  lots of people  the  big wedding is the the way to go, you can invite who want and  don’t have to spend hours  looking   at the guest lists  wondering  how you can possibly cut it down.  Everyone can dance a lot at a big gathering  this is a really good reason for having a big wedding if dancing is something that matters a lot to you.

Weddings In Tipperary

Many  couples are comfortable  with a small wedding because they can have it at a venue like a restaurant where  everyone can sit down  chill and eat.  If you are having  70 people or less  say closer to 30, that amount of people might look lost  in a huge venue, It may seem like you have almost no one there which would be disappointing  considering all time and effort put  into planning your big day

You’ll want to remember your big day.

Here at Drangan Video So many of our couples remark about how the whole is  a blur, they enjoyed their wedding day but they can’t pick out any special moments  from it. That’s not exactly what you want, one  advantage  of a small wedding is that you can relax and enjoy the whole experience  instead of being distracted by so many guests around you all day.

Believe  it or not the job of creating a smaller guest list can be pretty stressful, differing  opinions  can crop up between the bride and groom, each of whom may have small or large families or huge circles of friends who they are  having trouble trimming  down. Big weddings are good for avoiding  arguments about the guest list, you’ll know that you’re both inviting as many people as you want to, anway  who wants to chawing the rag  while planning the most special day in your life

A Small Wedding Could Make People Unhappy

A small wedding could upset people in your life,  friends and family members may not understand your reason  for having  a smaller, more intimate gathering  you may find yourself answering  questions as to why certain people were omitted from the guest list, that doesn’t sound like a good position to be in.
The real question is, what kind of wedding do you really want ?  What is your gut feeling ?  There is for and against  big and small weddings our advice is to go  what your heart is telling you.

Great News for Irish Weddings

Whilst the last number of months have been quite stressful for many brides and grooms, they can now see a clear path ahead that allows them to plan with confidence. On Friday the 19th of June, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced that Ireland would be proceeding into phase 3 of the easing of restrictions in Ireland. No doubt this announcement brought great relief to our couples who have been awaiting this news for quite some time. Let’s have a quick recap on the information provided for social gatherings:

Kilkenny Videographer

Please do note that all the information provided below is subject to public health guidance and the ongoing decline in Covid 19 cases.

From the 29th of June until the 20th of July, government and NPHET have advised that gatherings of up to 50 people can take place indoors with social distancing in place. Outdoor venues have a bit more leeway and can accommodate up to 200 people during this timeframe. Keep in mind that these numbers will need to include staff and any wedding suppliers that need to be onsite such as the photographer and videographer.

July 20th sees the introduction of phase 4 and therefore a further increase on numbers allowed. For those of you getting married during this time, you can allow for up to 100 people indoors or 500 outdoors. Social distancing will of course have to be in place at your venue during this time, however some careful planning can mean that sitting family groups together can make this a wonderful occasion.

Should you find that the current guidelines and numbers are too restrictive, it’s worth considering the following options:

• Rescheduling of your wedding day until a clearer picture of the pandemic has emerged.
• Opting for an outdoor event instead of indoors. Whilst the good old Irish weather can be a bit unpredictable, the venue may be able to offer a marquee for your celebrations.
• Live-streaming of your event to family and friends.
• Reducing the numbers on your guest list.
• Speak with family and friends and get an idea of how attending an event makes them feel. What are their concerns? Once you have this information you can then work towards solutions that make everyone feel comfortable.
• Consider a two-part wedding. Many brides and grooms have opted to go ahead with the ceremony itself with limited numbers in attendance and are planning the ultimate celebration when all restrictions have been lifted.
• If you are planning a destination wedding, it’s vitally important that you communicate regularly with your venue/wedding planner and keep up to date with travel guidelines in your chosen country.

Happy Wedding Video Highlights In Holycross Tipperary

Here at Drangan Video  we take great pride in sharing  our latest Tipperary & Kilkenny wedding  videos on Facebook, Instagram and our weekly wedding blog,  thanks to Mary & Seán for allowing  us  to share their amazing wedding video in this weeks wedding blog news.

We have been living through strange times since the beginning of March so many industries in Ireland have been closed due to Covid restrictions, the wedding industry ground to a halt on March 13th so many couples having to postpone their wedding until later this year or next year. Now here we are  four Months later with  the future looking positive for a return to weddings very soon in Tipperary & Kilkenny

Mary and Seán’s Wedding Video Story

Mary & Seán tied the knot on October 26th 2019 it was a fab fun filled wedding day they were a lovely couple to work with, both so laid back and easygoing.

During the Irish  Famine the  Warhouse in Ballingarry Tipperary  was the location of the 1848 Rebellion. The house shows the history of the Irish  Famine, as I drove by the war house  on my way to Mary’s bridal preps my thoughts were  of how lucky I am  to be heading off to a carefree  happy event.
On arrival I captured nice aerial drone  shots of the hills of Ballingarry it was a very cold crisp morning,  I was glad to get indoors  the sounds of laughter chat and excitement coming from the house was heartwarming. I’ve been shooting weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny for over 25 years,  all the experience  has been invaluable, the morning preps are a mood  barometer as to what kind of wedding we will have.  The barometer reading was high for this one,  the girls had their hair/makeup done  in Mary’s brother’s house then they set off on foot to Mary’s parents house a 4 minute walk down a winding country road a great opportunity for fun video shots.

Weddings In Holycross Abbey

Mary & Seán’s choice of wedding ceremony location was the beautifully restored Holycross Abbey in Tipperary  its also a  popular tourist attraction where visitors  can ring  the oldest church bell in Ireland it is more 750 years old.  Holy Cross Abbey is the number one choice for weddings ceremonies  in Tipperary.
Seán is a proud Holycross man he is well know in Tipperary GAA circles as a club  hurler and county supporter, the boys arrived early in good time to greet their guests as they made their way into the much needed  warmth of the church.
The aisle in the Holycross Abbey is quite a long walk in heels it was no problem for Mary,  she was in good hands as she made her way up with her brother Pat who handed her over to Seán in an emotional exchange. The ceremony was conducted by  Fr. Derry Quirke  from Ballingarry  he added  a personal touch to the ceremony by mentioning Mary’s late dad who would have been so proud to see his daughter saying yes to the love of her life Seán Comerford.

After the ceremony it was time that familiar joyful  walk down the aisle followed by a lengthy guest receiving line at the church door. Guests were not for hanging around for very long, the late October weather was a chilly a reminder that summer days or becoming a memory. It was a pleasure working with the wonderful  Katie Kavanagh for the photos her work is fun, candid and laid back, she did the bridal party photos around Holy Cross before heading off to the hotel.

Weddings In The County Arms Birr

Birr is one of Ireland’s best heritage towns  It’s most famous landmark, the  Castle Gardens & Science Center  attracts large numbers of  tourists annually, The Great Telescope is my personal favorite must see attraction.

The  County Arms Hotel was founded  by Michael & Margaret Loughnane in 1962 it  is  Offaly’s first four star Hotel.
The  walled Garden is a wedding videographer’s  dream for capturing romantic footage as couples take time out for a quite stroll through the perfectly manicured  gardens and yet  only a few yards from their wedding  guests.
The County Arms is a popular wedding reception location for Tipperary & Kilkenny couples.

It was an honor to have been Mary & Seán’s  videographer I’m   so proud to be sharing their wedding film is this week’s blog news story.
