More and more we are asked to provide Brides and Grooms with a quote for not just one day of filming but two, Ireland has embraced the ‘after wedding party’ and it looks like it’s here to stay!
So why should you consider a get together the night or day after your wedding?
It is with increasing regularity that we hear Brides and Grooms regret that they didn’t get enough time to spend with their guests on the big day and this is where the ‘after wedding party’ really comes into it’s own. On the day of your wedding you will no doubt do your best to mingle with everyone in the room, but it goes without saying that you will be very much in demand and it’s hard to spend time with everyone. Planning a get together for the day after makes for a much more relaxed affair and will give you the chance to thank each and every one of your guests in a more informal setting.
So where should I have my After Wedding Party
There are a host of options open to you for your after wedding party and the best thing is you get to relax and enjoy it without having to worry about too much detailed planning.
• Many venues will offer you a second night of celebrations at a reduced rate, so it’s well worth bringing this up at the price negotiation stage. Remember, a second night of celebrating means quite a bit of profit for the establishment and it’s well worth haggling for a reduced rate.
• You could also consider hosting a get together in a local bar that you frequent as a couple on a regular basis. This informal setting will ensure both you and your guests are relaxed and can come and go at a time that suits everyone.
• A local restaurant is a great idea if you would like to thank your guests and family by treating them to an informal meal. Most small restaurants will allow you to bring your own wine and may be happy to waive any corkage fees in return for a large group booking. A great excuse to use up the last of the wine from the wedding day!
• If you are lucky enough to get married during the summer months and fancy taking your chances with the Irish weather, then you could organise a BBQ in your own home or in the grounds of a local club or hotel garden. Make sure there’s an indoor area though to cover all weather possibilities or consider hiring a marquee for the night.
For any brides or grooms who would like a video for both the wedding day and the after wedding party, we would love to hear from you. We can travel anywhere in the country and will be happy to stay overnight so we can capture the perfect video on both days. Please feel free to give Eamon a call here at Drangan Video and he will provide you with an all-inclusive quote.
