If you and your loved one have recently become engaged, let us first extend a hearty congratulations from all the team here at Drangan Video. Now that you have popped the question or said ‘yes’, it’s time to get the wheels in motion and start planning your big day. Planning a wedding can be a most wonderful experience, so it’s important to try to reduce any stress and enjoy every moment. It is with this in mind that we have put together a checklist for you to follow as you start your journey into married life.
Choosing a venue and settling on a date:
One of the very first things you need to do when planning for your big day is choosing a date. For many couples this will go hand in hand with choosing a venue. Make a shortlist of venues that you want to speak with or arrange a viewing for and have an idea of the dates you would like prior to meeting with them. If your favourite venue is not available on the date you would like, then you still have the opportunity to move things around.
Booking the Ceremony:
If you are planning on having the ceremony and the reception in two different venues, it is important that you move fast to ensure you secure availability on the same date. Most venues will be flexible with dates until you sign your contract, so work closely with both the reception venue and the ceremony venue until you have both locations secured.
Choosing your Bridal/Grooms Party:
If you have decided to have a best man and maid of honour, it’s important that you ask them as early in the process as possible. Any bridesmaids, groomsmen, paige boys and flower girls should also be notified as early as possible to ensure these special people are available on your big day.
Here’s a quick overview of the some of the vendors and services you may require for your big day:
• Videographers (Drangan Video of course!),
• Celebrant or priest if you are having a religious ceremony,
• Car hire,
• Wedding favours,
• Hair stylists,

• Musicians for the ceremony and reception,

• Makeup artist,
• Hen and stag night venues and entertainment or caterers,
• Accommodation for guests,

Use the list above to make your own planning schedule. Once you have the date secured with the venues you have chosen, you can then begin to request quotes from the above mentioned wedding suppliers.
