Planning an Unforgettable Small Wedding

Here at Drangan Video our bookings for weddings in Kilkenny and Tipperary for 2021/2022 are very promising,  our couples are feeling much more optimistic about saying yes and are happy to adapt to new  restrictions and  guidelines. Covid has changed the face of the wedding industry in Ireland notably the restrictions on guest numbers.

Kilkenny Couple Aisling and Ray

Kilkenny couple Aisling and Ray were married  in Foulkstown church on March 30th, the ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Dan Carroll he is a popular choice of celebrant for weddings in Kilkenny.
Aisling & Ray were planning on walking down the aisle of a packed church followed by the usual receiving line outside the door with lots of hugs and handshakes. They have planned a bigger reception party for  later in the summer when restrictions are lifted, it was a small wedding ceremony but very big on emotion and a feeling of having made the right choice. I’m looking forward to been videographer again for their celebrations later in 2021.

Planning an unforgettable small wedding

Micro weddings are ideal if you are having  a more intimate celebration with your close family and special friends  and just like Aisling & Ray  just because you have less guests doesn’t mean that the day will be short on fun or emotion. With proper planning  a  wedding party of 40 guests  can be just as good  and  more special in many ways than having a guest list of 200.

The advantages  of small weddings

For many couples cost is a big consideration when planning  their big day. Having a wedding party with 50 guests will free up your budget and allow you to splash out on whats really important to you. From your choice of venue to the wedding menu or the band for the evening entertainment,  a smaller wedding will give you more options on planning a day to remember.

More time to enjoy time with guests
Less guests allows more time for the couple to move around and spend time chatting  chatting with each and every person. You will have more free time for visiting each table during the meal this makes for a much more enjoyable and intimate  day.  Also with fewer guests it will be much easier to organize  accommodation for everyone in the same venue

The Perfect Venue for you
For most couples the choice of wedding venue is one of the most important considerations when  setting the atmosphere for their big day. With a smaller guest list you will have much more flexibility when it comes to choosing the perfect intimate wedding reception.  Little things are very important when planning a small wedding from flowers to wedding favors and place names, with less guests to worry about you can spend more time on the little things.

The value of entertainment
With larger weddings it can be difficult  finding the right entertainment that everyone will be happy with, couples might opt for mainstream bands to avoid getting it wrong. With a smaller guest list you will know the likes and dislikes of all your guests, this means you have a good chance of finding entertainment that will please all your guests. And with savings on spending  you might even consider hiring  extra  performers or musicians to transform your day into an unforgettable wedding celebration.

Try to keep it intimate
Small intimate weddings are just what it says on the tin They’re personal,  they’re  intimate, and more than anything they’re romantic. Try to focus on keeping it as personal as possible by keeping everyone  close to you and each other.  Use the small number of guests to your advantage and stretch out the celebrations  over a long  weekend, find a stunning and extravagant wedding venue that can cater to all your needs, enjoy been spoiled during the happiest time in your life.

To help you avoid disappointment  we have come up with a list of what we think will be the most popular wedding videography trends for 2021/2022

Same Day Video Edit
Drangan Video has been providing same day editing for more than 10years, its by no means a new trend but it’s a standard wedding video add on. The same day editing is where  the videographer gathers footage from the morning preps, the ceremony, the photo shoot and guest messages, then while the guests are having dinner your videographer will retire to a quit area to compile and produce a short highlights video which will be ready for viewing just before the first dance, Drangan Video also offer the option of sharing the the short  video on social media Facebook/Instagram.  Same-day editing  requires at least two videographers which will add an extra cost to your wedding video budget, same day video footage always goes down well with the guests always guarantees a few cheers and maybe a tear or two.

Drone Wedding Videos In Kilkenny

Drone Wedding Videos In  Kilkenny & Tipperary

Drones are capable of grabbing a certain visual that’s not possible to get on the ground, its not all about those dramatic aerial shots of your ceremony location, its about those candid moments that capture the fun and excitement of the day. Just imagine all your guests already standing as the bride and her bridesmaids nervously line up around for a group photo

Take Advantage of Your Venue
Drangan Video is including  drone footage with all packages at no extra cost. Drones will capture dynamic  videos that display the scope and scenic view of your wedding venue, aerial videos  offer a unique perspective of your beautiful wedding location.  Are you having your ceremony on a cliff edge, mountainside, beach  or some other stunning location Imagine looking back over your wedding film with your kids  and having a sweeping aerial video caption  of your venue as an opener to your wedding film all those years ago. The latest drones are so quick to launch we are able to get creative  wedding shots within minutes. Drones are very durable, but they are battery driven with electronic components  so that means  flying in rain or strong  winds is not an option.  Our drone will  never distract or interfere with the flow of the wedding we always avoid  close-ups,  its a very unsafe practice and is very  intrusive and distracting.

Getting your wedding videography right

Are you still  not sure about hiring  a wedding videographer, here at Drangan Video  we definitely  say yes  go for it, of course we would say that !!. We have been videographers for so many weddings in Tipperary, Klkenny, Waterford and though-out Ireland for more than 20years, we frequently meet couples who have used our videography service, they all agree that having a wedding video was the best decision they have ever made.

A Quality Wedding Video Is Worth Paying For

The price you pay for  videography  very much reflects the quality of the finished wedding film. Recording  a wedding day will take up to 12 hours hours, add another 2 days for post production, the average cost for a wedding film is anywhere between €1200 and €2500  bearing in mind the average cost of a wedding  dress is €1700  it might be worth considering hiring a  videographer to capture you in that dress on your big day

Wedding Videographer Killenny

Go with a  professional
Wedding videography is much more than just turning up and pointing a camera, it takes lots of experience and skill, It also involves just as much  work input as your photographer, so accepting an offer from a family friend or a video enthusiast might not be the perfect choice

Different styles of wedding videography

There are so many different styles of videography to choose from, take  your time to find a modern style that you really like. Professional videographers are constantly keeping up with latest trends,  think about how your video  may age over the next few years.  Many styles and trends have come and gone over the last 20 years, gone are the long boring 3 hour productions, now wedding films are much shorter with lots of short clips with a fast pace. It’s very  important that you do your own research first before meeting a videographer view examples of their work on their website, facebook and Instagram accounts, not just a showreel as they could be hiding the bad parts, find the style that you like and then book a videographer who can create your perfect wedding film.

Communication is key
Once you’ve found a videographer that you like and that is within your budget,  have a long conversation about your planning for the day and what you would exspect your wedding film to look and sound like.  It’s easy to get your wires crossed with mixed messages, now is the time to get it right might be to late when the day is over.

Be sure to ask how many cameras your videographer  will use on the day, here at Drangan Video we use a minimum of two cams there are no second chances for a second shoot of your wedding day. It also means that you’ll get get to view the day from different angles lending to a much more exciting production and needless to say better value for money

Getting your wedding video to sound right

When couples think about their wedding video, a beautiful colorful film immediately springs to mind,  what happens when you sit down to enjoy your wedding video, only to find that the  speeches are not clear due to background noise or your exchange of vows are barely audible, make sure that your videographer is using lots of external audio recorders, perfect sound is just as important as perfect picture.

Just in case backup plan
Ask  what happens if they’re unable to turn up on your big day due to sickness, do they have a backup plan or can get another professional to cover the day.
Discuss a delivery date for the final production, most professional videographers are very busy, so as a rule of thumb allow at least 6 weeks for delivery of your wedding film.

Thanks for dropping by and taking time out to read our latest blog post, if you are considering having a videographer why not contact myself Eamon here at Drangan Video I will be more than happy to discuss our range of wedding  video packages for 2020/2021

Happy Wedding Video Highlights In Holycross Tipperary

Here at Drangan Video  we take great pride in sharing  our latest Tipperary & Kilkenny wedding  videos on Facebook, Instagram and our weekly wedding blog,  thanks to Mary & Seán for allowing  us  to share their amazing wedding video in this weeks wedding blog news.

We have been living through strange times since the beginning of March so many industries in Ireland have been closed due to Covid restrictions, the wedding industry ground to a halt on March 13th so many couples having to postpone their wedding until later this year or next year. Now here we are  four Months later with  the future looking positive for a return to weddings very soon in Tipperary & Kilkenny

Mary and Seán’s Wedding Video Story

Mary & Seán tied the knot on October 26th 2019 it was a fab fun filled wedding day they were a lovely couple to work with, both so laid back and easygoing.

During the Irish  Famine the  Warhouse in Ballingarry Tipperary  was the location of the 1848 Rebellion. The house shows the history of the Irish  Famine, as I drove by the war house  on my way to Mary’s bridal preps my thoughts were  of how lucky I am  to be heading off to a carefree  happy event.
On arrival I captured nice aerial drone  shots of the hills of Ballingarry it was a very cold crisp morning,  I was glad to get indoors  the sounds of laughter chat and excitement coming from the house was heartwarming. I’ve been shooting weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny for over 25 years,  all the experience  has been invaluable, the morning preps are a mood  barometer as to what kind of wedding we will have.  The barometer reading was high for this one,  the girls had their hair/makeup done  in Mary’s brother’s house then they set off on foot to Mary’s parents house a 4 minute walk down a winding country road a great opportunity for fun video shots.

Wedding Couple Tipperary

Weddings In Holycross Abbey

Mary & Seán’s choice of wedding ceremony location was the beautifully restored Holycross Abbey in Tipperary  its also a  popular tourist attraction where visitors  can ring  the oldest church bell in Ireland it is more 750 years old.  Holy Cross Abbey is the number one choice for weddings ceremonies  in Tipperary.
Seán is a proud Holycross man he is well know in Tipperary GAA circles as a club  hurler and county supporter, the boys arrived early in good time to greet their guests as they made their way into the much needed  warmth of the church.
The aisle in the Holycross Abbey is quite a long walk in heels it was no problem for Mary,  she was in good hands as she made her way up with her brother Pat who handed her over to Seán in an emotional exchange. The ceremony was conducted by  Fr. Derry Quirke  from Ballingarry  he added  a personal touch to the ceremony by mentioning Mary’s late dad who would have been so proud to see his daughter saying yes to the love of her life Seán Comerford.

After the ceremony it was time that familiar joyful  walk down the aisle followed by a lengthy guest receiving line at the church door. Guests were not for hanging around for very long, the late October weather was a chilly a reminder that summer days or becoming a memory. It was a pleasure working with the wonderful  Katie Kavanagh for the photos her work is fun, candid and laid back, she did the bridal party photos around Holy Cross before heading off to the hotel.

Weddings In The County Arms Birr

Birr is one of Ireland’s best heritage towns  It’s most famous landmark, the  Castle Gardens & Science Center  attracts large numbers of  tourists annually, The Great Telescope is my personal favorite must see attraction.

The  County Arms Hotel was founded  by Michael & Margaret Loughnane in 1962 it  is  Offaly’s first four star Hotel.
The  walled Garden is a wedding videographer’s  dream for capturing romantic footage as couples take time out for a quite stroll through the perfectly manicured  gardens and yet  only a few yards from their wedding  guests.
The County Arms is a popular wedding reception location for Tipperary & Kilkenny couples.

It was an honor to have been Mary & Seán’s  videographer I’m   so proud to be sharing their wedding film is this week’s blog news story.

Wedding Videographer Kilkenny

With the onset of Covid 19 in Ireland back in March, many of our Tipperary/Kilenny couples had to postpone their weddings or reduce the numbers in attendance to adhere with health guidelines. This has been an incredibly stressful time for brides and grooms and we commend them on their resilience, optimism and determination to keep their families and guests safe during this time.

Now that there is light at the end of the tunnel, with the numbers decreasing day on day, couples who are planning their wedding now have a clearer picture of how their revised big day will look. We encourage our brides and grooms to contact us with any queries they might have and we very much look forward to capturing your special moments on video for you to share with family and friends.

Outdoor weddings in Kilkenny

Some pointers for planning your wedding in 2020:

• All wedding suppliers should have procedures in place that you can review prior to the big day. You should ask the vendor for a copy of these procedures/policies so that you can be assured they are taking the necessary precautions throughout the day.
• Speak to your venue about the numbers they can cater for and keep in mind that any numbers provided in current health guidelines will need to allow for staff at the venue.
• Ask your venue if they have an outdoor space you can use for the ceremony or reception. Currently, outdoor weddings and events can cater for larger groups of people, so this may be an option for those who do not want to reduce guest numbers.
• Should you be exchanging vows in a church or religious venue, speak to the priest or celebrant about seating for your guests. Can seating be arranged to accommodate social distancing between family groups?
• Guests coming from abroad may have trouble getting to the wedding due to travel restrictions or they simply may not feel comfortable about travelling just yet. Speak to these guests and reassure them that there is no pressure for them to travel.
• Organise a live stream of the event for those who may not be able to attend on the big day. The team here at Drangan Video can talk you through the process involved and provide a link for you to share with family and friends both at home and abroad.
