Happy wedding video moments
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this post, if you are in the process of wedding planning and looking for a wedding videographer in Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford or Limerick please feel free to contact myself Eamon who will be happy to discuss our selection of wedding video packages for 2019/2020.
Over the past 25 years as a wedding videographer, I have seen a huge change in trends, technologies and editing software. The tools available to the modern videographer have greatly enhanced the service we now offer and Drangan Video has embraced each and every one of these changes.
In this blog post I’m going to tell you a bit about our modern approach to wedding videography and the changes we have made over the years to become one of Ireland’s most sought after wedding videographers.
Wedding Videography Tipperary
Brides and grooms consistently tell us that they are surprised at just how hands off we are, never intruding upon personal moments and in many cases their guests have told them they didn’t even know we were there! This style of non-intrusive wedding videography allows us to capture the moments as they really happen and deliver a beautiful documentary of the day to our wonderful brides and grooms. How do we do it, I hear you ask?
Changing Technologies
Let’s take the exchanging of vows as an example. During the wedding we make a point of never getting in the way of the natural progression of the vows or ceremony and we do this by setting up our cameras and filming from a distance. Modern technology has given us with the ability to do this by providing the groom with a pen-like audio recorder that can be inserted into their suit or shirt pocket. This tiny device picks up all audio and ensures we can deliver top quality sound on all videos, regardless of how far away we physically are. There is absolutely no need for a modern videographer to be intruding upon these special moments!

Changing Trends
It has now almost become a tradition to film the preparations on the morning of the wedding and I absolutely love this trend! Providing our videography services to couples on the morning of the wedding means that we get to truly capture the excitement in the hours before the ceremony. The enthusiasm is absolutely infectious and we are blessed to capture some truly tender moments between close friends, families and neighbours. When our couples look back on these moments, they get to see parts of the day that would otherwise remain a mystery. It really is truly special to share these moments after the big day with your new spouse and enjoy them together for the first time.
Changing Approach
Drangan Video Kilkenny and Tipperary
Over our time in the industry, we have honed our skills to a degree that ensures none of our shots are ever set up. This takes great pressure off the couple and means they can go about their day without ever having to worry about whether the videographer is capturing everything. We will be your eyes and ears for the day, never missing a tender moment or asking your guests to pose for shots. Our approach is natural, non-intrusive and results in a truly incredible documentary of your big day.
Should you wish to learn more about our modern approach to wedding videography or have any questions about the styles we offer, please do feel free to get in touch with Eamon here at Drangan Video.
For those of you who are in the early wedding planning process, we hope you find this blog post interesting and informative. Booking the right venue for you and your intended is probably the most important choice you will make at this early stage. It is with this in mind that we have compiled a list of important questions for you to ask the venue before making that all-important decision.
Whether you are planning to get married in Tipperary or further afield, these questions should assist you with this important first step.
Getting Married In Tipperary
Dates:
Have you set a date in stone or can you be flexible to get the venue you really want? The very first question you need to ask your venue of choice is whether they can accommodate you on your preferred date. Once you have confirmed the venue you can then move on to booking entertainment that is available on the same day.
Budget:
Budget is incredibly important, and you need to know that the venue can deliver everything you need without costs spiraling out of control. Make sure you ask your venue to specify any ‘extras’ that could catch you off guard when the time for payment comes.
Capacity:
For those of you planning a large wedding, you will need to give an approximation of numbers to the venue to ensure they can seat and comfortably accommodate all of your guests for the big day. If they can’t accommodate the numbers you were hoping for, you will have a decision to make. Which is most important to you, your dream venue or a large guest list?

Civil Ceremonies:
If you are planning a civil ceremony and hope to host the ceremony and the celebrations in the same venue, you will need to check that the venue has been registered with the HSE. A full list of HSE approved wedding venues is available on the HSE website.
The Space:
Ask the event coordinator at the venue to give you a tour of the space. If at all possible, ask if you could see the room on the morning of another wedding before the guests arrive. This will give you a good idea of the seating arrangements and the space available in the venue.
Décor:
In most cases the venue will decorate the space for you at no extra cost, however, you may want to add some of your own touches to make it special. Speak with your point of contact and ask if you can be involved in the décor process.
Point of Contact:
To ensure everything runs smoothly throughout the planning process it is always best to have one dedicated point of contact at your venue of choice. Upon your first meeting with the venue you should specify this request and a direct phone number and email address for ease of contact.
Recommendations:
Every venue will have a list of approved venues that they will be happy to share with the bride and groom. This can be a great resource if you are looking for the best entertainment, photographer or car hire service. Drangan Video is proud to be recommended by hotels and venues in Tipperary and throughout Ireland.

In this week’s blog news we are delighted to be featuring a very local wedding that of Catherine Maher and Tom Kennedy, the Maher family are our closest neighbours, just a 3 min drive from our studio in Drangan it was my shortest journey ever to a bridal preps location.
Catherine is the youngest and the only girl in a family of four, the photo that she is holding is that of her late Mum and Dad, it was a morning of mixed emotions for this beautiful young Bride to be. Catherine’s older brothers have always looked out for her, they pulled out all the stops for her big day on Saturday May 6th 2017 leaving no stone unturned in making it the happiest day of her life.
The Maher family were so friendly and welcoming, cups of tea, snacks and cakes were a slight distraction for the videographer. When the Bride was dressed and ready she stopped off at the old family farm house for photos with her brothers, Catherine has happy memories of the old homestead and her parents.
Drangan Village/ Drangan Video
When we set up our videography business one of the first tasks was choosing a company name for our new business venture, we decided to call it after our local village, we are proud to be keeping our small village on the map with our company brand name.
The church of the Immaculate Conception is situated smack bang in the middle of Drangan, the Archway Bar is only a two minute walk from the church so no prize given for figuring out where to find Tom and the boys, it was another nice opportunity to grab nice pre -ceremony footage for the wedding film
Drangan Video Productions Tipperary
The wedding ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Tony Lambe, it was a nice ceremony Fr. Tony’s light hearted approach helped to keep the slightly nervous bride and groom calm a relaxed throughout, Andrea Ruth Houlihan provided the church music and singing, her amazing voice filled every corner of the crowed church. Tom is a proud follower of Tipperary Hurling he hails from Carrick On Suir and plays hurling with his local GAA club, Catherine and Tom now mr. and mrs. Kennedy were greeted by an archway of clattering hurls formed by Tom’s team mates , its always a moment worth capturing on video.
Edmund Rice Heritage Centre Callan Kilkenny
We stopped off the Edmund Rice Heritage Centre , Wescourt Callan, for the photo shoot with the bridal party.
Blessed Edmund Rice was the founder of the Christian Brothers and Presentation Brothers.
The thatched house at “Westcourt”, Callan, Co. Kilkenny in which Edmund was born is almost 300 years old. The perfectly preserved house consists of six rooms a kitchen, parlour, breakfast room and three bedrooms. The grounds surrounding the house are lovely for wedding video and photo shoots, we got some great video shots with Catherine and Tom, just natural relaxed footage of a couple very much in love and enjoying their first hours as husband and wife.

Today I am proud to sharing the following video highlights from the wedding of Martina and Darren who tied the knot in St. Canice’s Church, they enjoyed a fab wedding reception in Hotel Kilkenny.
Martina and Darren contacted back in 2015 with a view to having their special day filmed, their wedding was still two years away but they had made a list of wedding suppliers that they wanted to work with, so they were taking no chances on availability.
Here at Drangan Video in Kilkenny we are noticing a changing trend regarding our wedding bookings, couples are getting engaged then straight away are in to full steam ahead wedding planning, just yesterday we took three bookings for wedding videos in 2020 it seems so far away, I feel very honored that those couples are so impressed by my work by having Drangan Video on their favorite list of wedding suppliers.
Wedding Photo Kilkenny Castle
The video coverage of Martina and Darren’s big day began with the ever popular bridal preps which took place in Hotel Kilkenny just a few minutes form the church. John Delaney was on duty as the official wedding photographer for the day, John and myself work very well together some of my best wedding films were shot with John, he has a lovey way abut him keeping everyone so relaxed and smiling.
The wedding ceremony took place in St. Canice’s Church Fr. Kieran O’ Shea conducted a lovely ceremony his relaxed manner helped our Bride and Groom to actually enjoy the ceremony without taking what is often described as a daunting task too seriously.
Wedding Videographer Kilkenny
After the ceremony our next location was the Castle Park Kilkenny, it is the ideal location for a wedding video shoot, the grounds are so well maintained always in imaculate condition the lawns are like carpets surrounded by multi Coloured flowers and shrubs providing a beautiful back drop for a creative video shoot.
Hotel Kilkenny
Martina and Darren made a good decision in choosing Hotel Kilkenny for what was perfect summer wedding reception in the Orchard Suite, with its walled garden and separate entrance I can only describe it as the ideal wedding reception location in Kilkenny.
