In this week’s wedding blog post I’m delighted and proud to be sharing Ned and Fiorella’s wedding video highlights.
The ceremony took place in St. Patrick’s Church, followed by a wonderful wedding reception in the Spring Hill Court Hotel Kilkenny.
As a Kilkenny/Tipperary based wedding videographer its great to be covering so many local weddings in Kilkenny, Ned and Fiorell’s story begins with a call to Ned’s parents house in Mullinahone Co. Tipperary, it was a beautiful calm sunny day ideal for capturing stunning drone video footage.
The luxurious five star Lyrath Estate Kilkenny was my next stop to capture the fun and excitement of Fiorella and the girls preparing for the big day, we also returned to the venue in the afternoon for the photoshoot.
After the ceremony in St. Patricks Church the Bridal Party and familes made their way across the road to St. Kieran’s College for photos, the Collegue is marked in history as been oldest Catholic secondary school in Ireland the school is situated close to the centre of Kilkenny City, its a beautiful location for wedding videography.
Ned & Fiorella made a wise choice in choosing The Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny for the wedding reception with a 40 year tradition for weddings in Kilkenny combined with a reputation for great food and friendly staff it was an easy decision for Ned and Fiorella.

At the earlier stages of planning your wedding, there are certain questions you should be asking prospective suppliers, vendors and venue managers in order to make sure everything will flow smoothly on your big day. In this article we will cover some of the most important questions you should be asking and hope that this will go some way to easing any worries you may have.
Questions for Suppliers and Service Providers
Question 1: How many weddings do you cater for each year?
By asking this question you can ascertain how experienced this particular supplier is. Don’t be afraid to probe by asking how long they have been in business either or by getting an idea of how many staff or freelancers they have on their team.
Question 2: Can I see your portfolio of work?
Every wedding supplier should have a portfolio of work or photographs of weddings they have catered for in the past. Whether it’s a florist, videographer, venue or musician, they should be able to demonstrate the quality of their product or service and provide references.
Question 3: Do you offer a payment plan?
Many supplier and vendors will offer a payment plan so you can pay in instalments up to the day of the wedding. Before committing to any down-payment you should also be aware of their cancellation or refund policy.
Question 4: Are there any hidden extras?
You need to know in advance the exact amount you will be paying for the service or product provided and won’t want to be surprised with any hidden extras that you haven’t budgeted for. Ask specifically if they charge extra for travel or delays and if there are any other expenses involved. Ask for an all-inclusive price.
Question 5: Are you insured?
All professional wedding suppliers and providers will be insured to cover equipment, public liability and damage. They should also be insured to cover any accidents that happen as a result of their equipment or team.
Questions for the conference or venue manager of your Hotel
Question 1: What is included in the package price?
Many venues will throw in little extras such as table settings, accommodation for the bridal party, complimentary champagne or prosecco for the toasts and tea and sandwiches for the evening refreshments. You need to have a detailed list of everything that is included so you can budget for any extras that need to be ordered.
Question 2: Can you offer discounts for midweek weddings?
For most brides and grooms, budgeting for a wedding can bring with it lots of stress and financial worry. By opting for a midweek wedding you may be able to bring down the costs significantly.
Question 3: How many people can you comfortably cater for?
Being sure of the capability of your chosen venue is extremely important and you will want to know that they can comfortably accommodate all of your guests. Ask about numbers for previous weddings they have catered for and references.
Question 4: Will you assist other vendors?
This is particularly important if other vendors require access to power points, water supply or need space for a particular service. It is imperative that your chosen venue is willing to work happily with the other service providers at your wedding.
Question 5: Are there any restrictions we need to be aware of?
This question is always worth asking to ascertain whether there may be any unforeseen restrictions. Available parking, bar opening hours, check out and check in times etc. are all important information to have in advance.

In this wedding news blog post we are taking a look at one of the most popular and long standing wedding traditions “The Wedding Cake.” Love is Sweet
Yum, life really is sweeter when you’re in love, at least that’s what one study suggests. Researchers found that both candy and water taste sweeter when people are in love, so what better way for wedding couples to share their love than sharing a delicious slice of wedding cake.
A wedding cake is a focal point of a wedding and usually sits in a prominent point of the function room. The wedding cake is a longstanding tradition dating back to Roman and Medieval times. Back then a stack of buns was used instead of a multi-level culinary masterpiece, but the symbolism was generally the same. Over the centuries there have been many traditions created surrounding the cake and it still remains an important aspect of weddings in Ireland. As a wedding videographer covering weddings in Tipperary & Kilkenny, I always like to capture the cutting of the cake on video because it represents the first activity done as a couple.
Whilst the classic tiered, white or ivory cake appears the more traditional choice for weddings in Tipperary, this does not mean that you cannot choose an alternative for your big day. Maybe you’re not a big fan of cake, or you just want to offer your guests something a bit different to sample? Take a look at some of the suggestions below for some alternative wedding cake inspiration for brides in Ireland.
One of the most popular wedding cake alternatives over the past few years has without a doubt been cupcakes. This versatile desert can be made in a wide range of flavours, from strawberry to chocolate fudge and tiffin to blueberry, meaning you can mix and match to please all of your guests!
Another great feature of using cupcakes is that they can be decorated in a variety of beautiful ways – meaning your nuptial cupcakes can become an additional décor feature of your wedding.
Decorative doughnuts are fast becoming a popular choice for brides and grooms. These deep fried treats are a favourite with guests of all ages – and the fact that they come in different flavours, and can be dressed up in your bridal colours, make them ideal for the big day. Serve them with coffee or chocolate dipping sauce and you have got a desert that’s sure to please all your guests.
Whether you are a vanilla or mint chocolate chip fan, individuals of all ages love ice cream! So, why not set up a make-your-own-sundae bar or an ice cream cone station, where guests can indulge in some refreshing sweet treats. Ice cream is a particularly good desert option for summer weddings.
Serving desserts in shot glasses, perhaps chocolate mousse or strawberry cheesecake is a really fun alternative to the traditional wedding cake. Create an arrangement of dessert shots on a decorated table, with three to four varieties.
A Pie Table
Set up a pie table and let your guests enjoy the buffet. Whether you provide apple, banoffee or cherry, pies are a great option for winter weddings in particular. If you are on a tight budget, you could consider asking friends or family members to each bake a different type of pie to bring to the party.
When you are hosting a more casual, rustic styled wedding, consider serving your deserts in jars. Deserts such as chocolate chip cookies, brownies and fruit crumbles work particularly well.
Consider serving a selection of mini deserts as an alternative to wedding cake, on your big day. Offering up a tasty arrangement of small desserts such as mini muffins, bite sized cookies or miniature cheesecake, is a great way to play with tradition.
Made to Order Waffles
Perfect for winter weddings, a made to order waffle station is a fantastic alternative wedding cake option. Set up a waffle station, where guests can choose their own toppings, such as ice cream, whipped cream, syrup, berries, Nutella, or even a little Baileys for the adults.

This week I am delighted to be sharing the wedding video highlights from the wedding of Lousie & William who were recently married in St. Michael’s Church Mullinahone !! “local weddings are best” 🙂
The wedding shoot got off to a lively start with a visit to Louise and the girls as they prepared for the long awaited wedding . Louise’s Mum’s house is situated on the Mullinahone Callan road just a 4min drive from the church which was ideal for me. When I arrived Karen Maher was attending to all make needs and doing a fantastic job as usual, if you are in the process of wedding planning and looking for a top class make up artist just go ahead and book Karen Maher Seamus Costello was in charge of wedding photograpy I have shot lots weddings in Tipperary with Seamus he a lovely guy to work with.
I was delighted with my coverage of the bridal preps, the video clip features some lovely shots of Louise and her bridesmaids which were discreetly captured on film.
The wedding ceremony was celebrated by F. John McGrath he is a lovely man his wedding ceremonies are always personal and lighthearted, we were out of the church within the hour which allowed extra time for greeting guests and the ever important photoshoot.
Killaghy Castle Mullinahone Tipperary :
Killaghy Castle is situated on the outskirts of Mullinahone, we stopped off there for the weeding photos, I also got amazing wedding video footage inside the historic house.
The castle has been owned by numerous families over the years. The present owners are Pat and Maria Collins who bought the property in 1995. The family have spent several years renovating the Castle to ensure that it offers tourists a totally relaxing and tranquil break. It was their priority to adopt a sensitive approach to the restoration project, ensuring that the Castle retained its historic feel while providing all modern conveniences. The family currently farm extensively on the estate.
Killaghy Castle is an extremely popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The family are happy to allow acess to the house and grounds for local weddings in Mullinahone and South Tipperary.
Hotel Kilkenny: Louise & William’s Wedding Reception
Upon entering hotel Kilkenny you immediately feel the wonderfully warm atmosphere that is simply a signature of a Griffin Group property. Your eye is instantly drawn to the wonderful Italian marble floors adorned by larger than life furniture pieces which include a giant purple chair and an ever-elegant pink chaiselong.
Lousie and William enjoyed a wonderful wedding reception in the Skyline Suite, a stunning room which caters for between 220 to 400 people and offers unrivaled spectacular views of Kilkenny’s cityscape.
Weddings In Tipperary :
I really enjoyed working with Louise and William and not forgetting Emma who was more than happy to join in with Mammy & Daddy for their first dance, it is memories like this that are so special, just imagine Emma looking back over the wedding video in years to come and reliving dancing with Mam & Dad on their wedding day , Magic Memories 🙂
Hiring A Wedding Videographer :
It was an early start this morning 6am to be exact, I like to take time out from my busy work load and get down to sharing wedding news, wedding tips and samples of my work.
I cannot understand why certain wedding videographers in Tipperary are not sharing their work on their websites, this has been brought to my attention by couples who have been researching wedding videographers online, and were surprised that not all videographers were sharing recent video samples.
I do hand out a full wedding DVD for viewing if requested by a couple, but the vast majority of my costumers are looking at my work on the drangan video website or on facebook.
As wedding videographers we are selling a product and it is vital that samples of recent wedding videos are available on line for viewing.
If you are planning on getting married over the next couple of years, why not contact myself Eamon by email or Facebook I will be happy to film your big day at a price that is affordable.
